Principal Engineer, Java with Angular

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Engineer, Java with Angular based in India.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity for an experienced engineer who can shape scalable full-stack solutions across backend and frontend ecosystems. You will combine deep hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot with strong Angular capabilities to build modern, secure, and high-performing applications. The role extends beyond implementation, with significant involvement in architecture, technical design, engineering standards, and solution decomposition. You will help raise the bar for code quality, automated testing, security, CI/CD, and cloud-native development. Collaboration with Product, Architecture, QA, Platform, and other stakeholders will be central to delivering reliable products in an Agile environment. The position is ideal for a Principal-level engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing engineering decisions, and driving continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

• Design, develop, and maintain modern, scalable frontend applications using Angular.

• Build, enhance, and maintain RESTful APIs, integrations, and business services.

• Develop secure, scalable, and high-performance full-stack applications following clean architecture principles.

• Apply object-oriented principles, software design patterns, separation of concerns, and clean coding practices throughout the development lifecycle.

• Contribute to system architecture, technical design, solution decomposition, and key implementation decisions.

• Review and improve application architecture, code quality, maintainability, scalability, and overall engineering standards.

• Implement secure coding practices covering authentication, authorization, input validation, data protection, and OWASP principles.

• Design and execute automated testing strategies across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing levels.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines while supporting containerized and cloud-native deployment environments.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate coding, testing, refactoring, documentation, and engineering productivity.

• Conduct code reviews, root-cause analysis, debugging, and performance optimization to improve application reliability and scalability.

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, QA, Platform teams, and other stakeholders in Agile environments.

• Identify technical risks early, recommend effective solutions, and help ensure high-quality software delivery.

• Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices, development processes, application quality, and team standards.

Requirements

• 11+ years of total professional experience in software engineering and development.

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot for backend application development.

• Advanced experience with Angular for building modern and scalable web applications.

• Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design.

• Experience with API management and integration platforms such as Apigee, Kong, or MuleSoft.

• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), software design patterns, clean architecture, and separation of concerns.

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerized development, and cloud-native deployment environments.

• Strong experience implementing automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.

• Solid knowledge of secure coding practices, including authentication, authorization, input validation, data protection, and OWASP principles.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for code generation, refactoring, documentation, testing, and engineering productivity.

• Strong experience working in Agile product development environments, particularly Scrum and Kanban.

• Experience participating in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture reviews.

• Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

• Ability to produce clean, maintainable, scalable, production-quality code while consistently applying engineering best practices.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Ability to operate at a strategic technical level while remaining comfortable with hands-on engineering work.
