We’d love to hear from you 👩💻👩🏽💻🧑🏿💻👨🏻💻
Brief overview of this role:
The Product Design Manager is a hybrid ownership role responsible for product outcomes end-to-end - from early concept and UX exploration through to delivery, release, and production performance.
At Sitemate, Product Design Managers combine UX/UI design expertise with product ownership and delivery management. You’ll work in small, high-trust teams alongside engineers to define problems, design solutions, shape requirements, plan delivery, and take responsibility for what ships - including how it performs once live.
Design, product, and delivery are not separate disciplines here; they are one integrated role. We believe the future of product teams - especially in an AI-accelerated world - belongs to builders who can own all three.
Employment:
- Full-time
- Based: Melbourne, Australia
- Remuneration (Including Super): AUD $60,000 - $150,000 pending your experience
About Sitemate:
Sitemate builds best-in-class software for the built world - empowering construction, infrastructure, and industrial companies to work smarter and faster.
Our flagship product, Dashpivot, helps teams move their processes from paper and spreadsheets into powerful, digital workflows that can be used in the field on mobile or tablet. This enables companies to automate repetitive tasks, track progress in real time, and make better decisions every day.
We’ve achieved strong product-market fit - generating thousands of new monthly leads through word-of-mouth and organic marketing alone.
Backed by Blackbird, Australia and New Zealand’s #1 venture capital firm, and a graduate of the Startmate Accelerator, Sitemate has grown from 5 people in 2018 to over 150 across 18+ countries. Our team blends deep industry experience with cutting-edge product design to build tools that modernise one of the world’s largest and most essential industries.
Life at Sitemate
At Sitemate, you’ll join a team that values transparency, high velocity, hustle, diversity, and innovation - not as buzzwords, but as the principles we work by every day.
We move fast, communicate openly, and operate with trust and autonomy. You’ll have access to key company metrics, clear career development plans, and the opportunity to grow your career based on performance, not tenure.
We believe diverse teams build better products. Our team includes members from 18+ countries - 55% identify as coming from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds, 43% identify as female, and our team spans ages 22–51.
How We Work
- Transparency: Monthly All-Hands meetings share updates on metrics, customer stories, hiring plans, and financial performance. Every session also includes a “Life Story” from one team member - building genuine connection and understanding across our global team.
- High Velocity: We use best-in-class, integrated systems to eliminate manual work and give you the information you need to make fast, high-quality decisions.
- Drive: You’ll be rewarded for performance. Seven of our last ten pay increases were proactive - driven by results, not requests.
- Autonomy: We focus on outcomes, not hours. You’ll have flexibility to manage your day, with no time monitoring or unnecessary meetings.
- Collaboration: You’ll work closely with talented teammates across engineering, product, design, marketing, sales, and customer success - sharing ideas and learning together every day.

⚡ Challenges
- Breadth of ownership - This is not a pure design or pure product management role. You will move between design, product scoping, delivery coordination, and production support within the same day. If you're looking to specialise in a single discipline, this role won't be the right fit.
- Pace - We move very quickly. You'll need to be excited to learn fast and ship frequently, not wait for perfect conditions.
- Owning the outcome, not just the output - You're responsible for what gets built, not just the designs you hand over. If something ships with unclear UX, missed edge cases, or bugs that trace back to insufficient scoping, that's your problem to own and fix.
- Support and triage are part of the job - Monitoring production, triaging issues raised by customer support, and ensuring quality post-release is core to this role, not a distraction from it.
- Strong culture and operating standards - We have a strong culture based on core values and standard operating procedures. You may need to unlearn a few things from previous experience.
✅ Who This Role is For
- Product minded people who enjoy owning product outcomes end-to-end
- Designers who want deeper accountability and delivery ownership
- Product thinkers who are comfortable moving between UX, scoping, and execution
- Individuals energised by pace and shipping
🚫 Who This Role is Not For
- People who only want to design and are not interested in delivery or product ownership
- Designers who prefer handing off work rather than owning outcomes through to production
- Individuals who want clearly separated roles without cross-functional accountability
🎯 Skills & Tools
Must Have:
- Strong ownership mindset with accountability for outcomes
