Legato, LLC recruiters (Staffing@legatocorp.com) would love to speak with you regarding the following position: Data Scientist in Linthicum Heights, MD. Security Clearance Required: TS/SCI w/ Polygraph Salary Range: $220,000-$240,000, depending on experience. What You Will Do:

The Data Scientist will join a mission-driven team focused on transforming a traditionally manual system security evaluation process into an automated, efficient, and intelligence-driven model. In this role, the successful candidate will develop and enhance automated capabilities that replace manual security evaluation and authorization processes, leveraging data science, analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.

The Data Scientist will use Python to process, analyze, and visualize security-related data while ensuring systems and resources meet security requirements. This individual will define data anomalies and outliers, assess patterns through statistical analysis, and identify system and resource associations based on attributes and known system information. The role will also involve designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines to collect and integrate data from multiple sources, including known sensors, security tools, compliance databases, and other enterprise data sources.

Additionally, the Data Scientist will transform and prepare data for reporting, analysis, and automated assessments; support data engineering operations involving data quality checks, pipeline monitoring, workflow optimization, and timely delivery of security insights; and enable scalable, reliable dataflows that support continuous monitoring and RMF automation.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • Ten (10) years of experience analyzing datasets and developing analytics
  • Experience programming in Python, SAS, or MATLAB
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing ETL pipelines
  • Experience cleaning, transforming, and preparing data for analysis
  • Experience developing, tuning, and testing predictive models
  • Experience creating analytics dashboards, visualizations, and charts
  • Experience with Elastic
  • Experience with machine learning
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Experience with regression and predictive analysis
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with MATLAB or R
  • Experience with SQL or MongoDB
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebook or Google Colab
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Ten (10) years of experience plus a Bachelor's and Master's degree are required
  • Candidates without a Master's degree must have at least twelve (12) years of relevant experience
  • A Ph.D. may count as four (4) years of experience
