Full description

The Semiconductor & Electronics Business Unit (SEBU) Systems R&D team within Emerson’s Test & Measurement Group is looking for a Senior Engineer to drive innovation at the intersection of software and semiconductor validation. This role focuses on architecting and building scalable automation frameworks that combine system-level software and measurement intellectual property for Mixed Signal and RF semiconductor IC validation. You will contribute to end-to-end solution development—from specifications to automation, data, and analytics—while collaborating with global R&D, product, and customer-facing teams to shape next-generation offerings.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Architect and develop framework solutions for semiconductor and electronics lab automation across Mixed Signal and RF domains
  • Integrate National Instruments (NI) software tools to create comprehensive workflows for product characterization and validation
  • Design solutions that enable seamless transitions from specification to automation, data acquisition, and analytics to enhance product quality
  • Own system features or full systems, leading them from definition through successful release
  • Collaborate with global R&D teams on feature alignment, dependencies, and customer-critical issues
  • Develop reusable IP and features for scalability across systems and future opportunities
  • Follow established software development processes and best practices for design and implementation
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from business managers, system architects, and application engineers
  • Provide technical leadership, guiding architectural decisions while balancing technical and business priorities
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for internal stakeholders and customer-facing teams
  • Identify and drive architecture and process improvements to enhance long-term product quality and efficiency
  • Represent customer requirements and ensure alignment with product priorities
  • Lead resolution of critical issues and customer concerns
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering learning and development
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team

Who You Are:

You promote high visibility of shared contributions to goals and actively collaborate to achieve outcomes. You take decisive action in evolving and uncertain situations while making timely and well-informed decisions. You seek input and feedback from relevant stakeholders to strengthen solutions and continuously improve. You embrace calculated risks and move forward with confidence, even when outcomes are not fully defined.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, Instrumentation, or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience in Python and C# for software development
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, software architecture, and design patterns
  • Experience diagnosing complex technical issues and delivering effective solutions
  • Knowledge of integrating software with measurement systems or hardware environments
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and collaborative development workflows
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience with NI hardware and software ecosystems (e.g., LabVIEW, TestStand)
  • Exposure to semiconductor validation, Mixed Signal, or RF testing environments
  • Experience building scalable automation frameworks or lab systems
  • Understanding of data acquisition, analytics, and system-level validation workflows
  • Prior experience working in global or cross-functional engineering teams
