Are you a relationship-focused Project Manager who thrives on delivering complex infrastructure projects through strong stakeholder engagement, disciplined project management, and collaborative leadership?
We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Design and Delivery team and lead the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital projects that help shape Hamilton's future.
This role would suit someone who brings either:
- Strong Heating Venting and Cooling (HVAC), mechanical services, or building systems expertise, or
- Extensive vertical infrastructure/building construction project management experience
and who enjoys working across technical experts, consultants, contractors, governance groups, and community stakeholders to deliver outstanding outcomes.
About the Role:
As Project Manager, you'll lead projects from planning and design through to procurement, delivery, commissioning, and handover. You'll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the quality standards expected by Council and our community.
Success in this role isn't just about project delivery—it's about building trusted relationships, creating alignment across diverse stakeholders, and providing the structure and governance needed to successfully navigate complex projects.
What you'll do:
- Lead the delivery of complex capital projects across the full project lifecycle
- Manage consultants, contractors, and suppliers to achieve project objectives
- Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide robust project controls, reporting, and governance support
- Identify and manage commercial, operational, and delivery risks
- Ensure projects align with Council's objectives, standards, and community outcomes
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and excellence
Qualifications

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or formal project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or similar)
- Significant experience delivering infrastructure, building, or construction projects
- Strong commercial acumen and contract management experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to lead through influence
- Most importantly, you'll be someone who combines technical credibility with genuine relationship-building capability and a structured, outcomes-focused approach to project delivery.
