Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Firmware Architect to drive the technical vision, architecture, and platform strategy for embedded firmware solutions across multiple product lines. The ideal candidate will define scalable, secure, and reusable firmware architectures while providing technical leadership to engineering teams developing next-generation embedded systems.
This role requires deep expertise in embedded systems, firmware architecture, cybersecurity, real-time systems, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Architecture & Strategy
- Define and own the firmware architecture roadmap for embedded products.
- Design scalable, reusable, and maintainable firmware frameworks and platform software.
- Establish architecture guidelines, coding standards, and best practices across projects.
- Drive technology selection, architecture trade-offs, and platform standardization.
Embedded Systems Design
- Architect firmware solutions for MCU and DSP-based systems, particularly ARM Cortex-M33/M23/M4/M7 platforms.
- Define system partitioning, memory architecture, task scheduling, and communication frameworks.
- Architect bootloaders, secure boot solutions, firmware upgrade frameworks, and device lifecycle management.
- Design secure firmware architectures aligned with cybersecurity requirements and industry standards.
Platform Development
- Guide and development of low-level drivers and middleware for peripherals including: • ADC, PWM, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS485, Ethernet
- Define reusable software components and common firmware services across product families.
System Integration & Performance
- Lead board bring-up activities and hardware firmware integration.
- Drive performance optimization, memory optimization, and real-time analysis.
- Ensure system reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
Technical Leadership
- Lead architecture reviews, design reviews, and technical governance activities.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads on architecture and design methodologies.
- Provide resolution strategies for complex system-level issues.
- Represent firmware architecture in leadership and customer technical discussions.
Development Excellence
- Establish firmware quality, testing, and verification strategies.
- Promote model-based design, CI/CD practices, static analysis, and code quality initiatives.
- Drive Agile development practices and continuous improvement activities.
Required Skills & Capabilities
Technical Expertise
- 15+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.
- Strong expertise in Embedded C/C++.
- Deep understanding of MCU architecture, memory management, interrupts, and peripheral subsystems.
- Extensive experience with RTOS, Linux and bare-metal firmware architectures.
- Expertise in: • Secure Boot, Secure Firmware Upgrade
- Bootloader Design, Firmware Security, Cybersecurity Architecture
- Strong understanding of communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS485, and Ethernet.
- Experience with power electronics, motor control, and closed-loop control systems.
Architecture & Design
- Proven experience architecting complex embedded products from concept to production.
- Strong knowledge of software design patterns and embedded software frameworks.
- Experience defining platform architectures spanning multiple product generations.
Tools & Processes
- Git/GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, Static Analysis Tools
- Unit Testing Frameworks, CI/CD Pipelines
Educational Qualifications
- 15+years experinece in Tech / M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline.
- Relevant certifications in Embedded Systems, Cybersecurity, or Software Architecture are desirable.
