This is a remote position.
CPI is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our growing team! We are a full-service consultancy and professional services firm specializing in large capital projects, including infrastructure, energy, and related industries. We are headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, but our team is fully remote.
The compensation for this role is $80,000-$120,000+ per year, based on experience. The Business Analyst plays a key role spanning workflow analysis and process optimization, translating business processes into well-organized, actionable requirements and project plans. This role maps intake workflows, structures validation and process requirements, and coordinates the build and integration of AI-enabled tools into existing form and data ingestion patterns. The ideal candidate is a versatile analyst who can move fluidly between stakeholder facilitation and hands-on process analysis leading workflow mapping, process improvement, tool ecosystem rationalization, and platform content development while collaborating with developers, vendors, and Company stakeholders under broad guidelines. The successful candidate will have a robust understanding of Microsoft Suite and workflow diagramming applications, excellent communication skills, a positive, can-do attitude, and the flexibility to adapt to changing project dynamics. This role demands a professional adept at juggling multiple tasks and navigating project shifts efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Map workflow end-to-end, structuring the validation requirements that govern how intake requests are processed and reviewed.
- Analyze mapped processes to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and overlap, and recommend an optimized target state.
- Lead requirements and discovery sessions with Company stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand existing business processes and surface how work is actually performed.
- Serve as the primary communication point between project teams, Company stakeholders, vendors, and project leadership, communicating progress, blockers, findings, and tradeoffs clearly, including through decks, visuals, and status reporting.
- Facilitate project logistics such as scheduling meetings, drafting agendas, and disseminating requisite information, and track progression against milestones and deliverables.
- Work with technical leads and stakeholders to clarify requirements, scope work, and align project decisions with priorities.
- Coordinate the design, build, and testing of the AI validation agents alongside the development team, ensuring reliable and accurate automated validation.
- Perform a comprehensive tool inventory across the technology ecosystem, evaluating usage, overlap, and gaps. Integrate findings as required by stakeholders.
- Produce a prioritized rationalization matrix that guides decisions on tool consolidation, retirement, or investment.
- Support execution of automation opportunities surfaced during tool ecosystem rationalization, translating findings into implemented process improvements.
- Collaborate with developers, vendors, and Company stakeholders to support proof of concepts, interface designs, and workflow architecture discussions.
- Identify and help troubleshoot process breakdowns and coordination gaps across workflows and project workstreams.
- Create and maintain documentation of workflows, validation logic, process requirements, and project dependencies.
- Lead development of onboarding content, access checklists, tool primers, and process orientation materials on the SharePoint Hub.
- Support adoption-monitoring instrumentation to track engagement with onboarding content and platform resources.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflow design, automation, and delivery efficiency.
- Accurate and timely timekeeping.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of relevant experience spanning business analysis, process analysis, workflow analysis, or project coordination.
- Proven experience mapping business workflows and translating them into structured validation and process requirements.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating requirements sessions, discovery conversations, and subject matter expert interviews with business and client stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze an existing process and recommend practical improvements.
- Demonstrated successful performance of lead responsibility for specific tasks, including the ability to work under broad guidelines or lead ad-hoc teams.
- Experience conducting tool inventories and producing prioritized rationalization recommendations across a technology ecosystem.
- Ability to own assigned project workstreams with minimal oversight, including requirements clarification, execution coordination, validation, documentation, and handoff.
- Ability to communicate project information, findings, limitations, risks, and recommendations clearly in writing and verbally, including to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience collaborating effectively with developers, vendors, stakeholders, and cross-functional or matrixed teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with SharePoint development, including site structure, content templates, navigation, and permissions.
- Experience building and leading content on SharePoint, including onboarding materials, checklists, and process orientation resources.
- Experience with SmartSheet, including forms, automation rules, and workflow configuration.
- Experience with workflow diagramming applications such as Lucid or Visio.
- Familiarity with AI agent concepts, prompt workflows, or LLM-based tool integration.
- Experience coordinating the build or integration of AI-enabled tools into operational workflows alongside technical teams.
- Experience with Power Automate or similar low-code automation platforms.
- Exposure to project management or reporting tools such as Power BI, Asana, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting audit trail and reporting layer requirements to defined standards.
- Energy or infrastructure domain knowledge.
- PMP, CBAP, or similar certification.
