Senior Financial Analyst – MoneyGram Online (Remote)

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to support the MoneyGram Online business. This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of MGO and function as a key strategic finance partner to MGO leadership, supporting financial planning, performance analysis, and decision-making across one of MoneyGram’s most important growth channels. The role is remote and all locations are acceptable.

This is a highly strategic, analytical, hands-on role that requires strong business acumen, the ability to translate data into actionable insights and automate processes using AI. The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with other cross-functional partners such as Growth Marketing, Product, and Business development to drive growth, improve profitability, and enhance financial visibility into digital channel performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Performance Management

  • Support the MGO CFO and MGO leadership team in evaluating business performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving accountability across the digital channel.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic and operational decision-making using Excel, SQL queries, and AI tools such as Claude, with a knack for automating processes.
  • Partner with Growth Marketing, Product, Pricing, and other cross-functional teams to analyze key drivers of customer acquisition, conversion, volume, revenue, and profitability.
  • Contribute to business case development for new digital initiatives, marketing campaigns, corridor and market expansion, and product launches.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support the annual planning process, monthly forecasts, and long-range planning for MoneyGram Online.
  • Maintain and enhance driver-based models (e.g., customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, conversion rates) to improve forecast accuracy and provide forward-looking insights.
  • Deliver timely and accurate variance analysis (volume, price, marketing spend, and cost) with clear commentary on performance drivers and recommended actions.
  • Assist in developing KPIs and dashboards that track funnel performance (acquisition, activation, retention), app and web conversion, and unit economics.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare Monthly Business Review (MBR) materials for MoneyGram Online, including reporting packs and executive-level summaries.
  • Analyze financial, operational, and digital engagement data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the development of automated and scalable reporting solutions, including SQL-based queries and dashboards, to improve efficiency and transparency.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across reporting systems and outputs.

Financial Control & Process Support

  • Partner with Accounting and Corporate FP&A to ensure accurate month-end close, including accruals, revenue recognition, and marketing cost allocations.
  • Support financial governance processes, including review of business cases and adherence to internal controls.
  • Assist in managing financial systems and tools (e.g., Oracle, Essbase, Cognos), ensuring timely and accurate data submissions.
  • Help drive continuous improvement in planning, reporting, and analytics processes through automation, AI-enabled tools, and standardization.

What We’re Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or related field.

Experience

  • 4–7+ years of experience in Finance, FP&A, or related analytical roles.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, e-commerce, or another digital/transaction-driven business model preferred.
  • Experience supporting a digital, e-commerce, or direct-to-consumer online channel finance team is a plus.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficient in SQL, with the ability to independently write queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large data sets from financial and operational systems.
  • Working knowledge of AI and automation tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT etc.) and an interest in applying them to improve financial analysis, reporting efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and data tools (Oracle, Essbase, Cognos, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Mindset focused on automation, scalability, and continuous improvement of finance processes.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail combined with the ability to see the bigger picture.
