This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, IT Systems Engineering based in United States.

This role provides technical leadership for secure, reliable, and scalable IT infrastructure supporting distributed clinical research and remote operations. You’ll oversee enterprise networking, cloud platforms, endpoint services, automation, technology projects, and service delivery. The position combines hands-on technical expertise with people leadership, vendor management, and strategic planning. You’ll help modernize infrastructure while ensuring high availability, operational resilience, security, and regulatory compliance. A key focus will be leveraging AI and automation to streamline IT operations, improve service quality, and increase organizational scalability. You’ll lead complex initiatives from planning through implementation and operational handoff while partnering with technical and business stakeholders. Accountabilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of enterprise networking, including switching, wireless, firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN, and LAN/WAN connectivity.
  • Maintain network availability and performance through effective segmentation, monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, documentation, and business continuity planning.
  • Manage technology vendors, contracts, licensing, budgets, hardware lifecycles, and performance metrics to ensure reliable and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Oversee core enterprise technology platforms, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Lead endpoint provisioning and lifecycle management using platforms such as Microsoft Intune and JAMF across corporate, remote, and clinical environments.
  • Identify, design, implement, and govern AI-enabled automation and workflows that reduce manual effort, improve service delivery, strengthen decision-making, and increase operational scalability.
  • Ensure enterprise AI tools and solutions are deployed effectively with appropriate governance, security, reliability, and organizational adoption.
  • Serve as technical lead for infrastructure, network, cloud, clinical-site expansion, and technology refresh projects from planning and implementation through operational handoff.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, risk-management plans, communications, capacity plans, and status reporting while coordinating cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Recruit, coach, develop, and retain IT professionals while establishing clear goals, service standards, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused technical culture and communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ensure IT operations align with security policies, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and established risk-management practices.
  • Partner with Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Legal teams on audits, access reviews, vulnerability remediation, investigations, and protection of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, networking, operations, or service delivery.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading technical teams and 5+ years in IT management or technical leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting geographically distributed environments and managing enterprise networks, Microsoft cloud services, endpoint platforms, and complex technology initiatives.
  • Strong technical knowledge combined with excellent communication, stakeholder management, vendor management, budgeting, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience implementing AI-enabled automation and workflows while considering security, data governance, reliability, and measurable business value.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, competing priorities, operational risks, and changing business requirements with sound independent judgment.
  • Preferred experience with Cisco Meraki, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, Active Directory, ITSM platforms, scripting, workflow automation, and AI-enabled operations tools.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, PMP, Microsoft, Cisco/Meraki, or CompTIA Security+ certifications is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop technical professionals while building accountability and high service standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders across a geographically distributed organization.
  • Authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Willingness to undertake minimal national travel as required for business needs and clinical-site installations.
