Senior Product Designer — Design Systems

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Designer — Design Systems based in United States.

This is a high-impact design role focused on scaling and evolving a design system across a growing B2B product platform. You’ll modernize legacy experiences, establish reusable patterns, and strengthen consistency across product surfaces. Working closely with Product Design, Engineering, and Product Management, you’ll turn design principles into scalable, production-ready experiences. You’ll help make the design system easier to discover, adopt, maintain, and contribute to across the organization. A key part of the role will be exploring AI-enabled workflows for design-system documentation, component discovery, quality checks, and pattern generation. You’ll combine strategic systems thinking with hands-on design execution while improving efficiency for both designers and engineers. The role begins as a six-month contract, with the intention to transition to full-time based on mutual fit and business needs.

Accountabilities

• Scale and evolve the design system, with particular attention to high-traffic and legacy product experiences.

• Audit existing product experiences to identify component gaps, inconsistencies, duplication, and opportunities for consolidation.

• Partner closely with engineers to create scalable, accessible, reusable, and production-ready components.

• Champion usability, accessibility, visual consistency, interaction quality, and design excellence across the product.

• Establish, document, and communicate design-system principles, standards, and key design decisions across the organization.

• Explore and introduce AI-enabled workflows for component discovery, documentation, quality assurance, pattern generation, and design-to-development efficiency.

• Reduce duplication and streamline collaboration between design and engineering through reusable systems and improved workflows.

• Measure and improve design-system adoption, usability, effectiveness, and overall organizational impact.

• Contribute hands-on to product design while balancing flexibility, consistency, scalability, and user needs.

• Serve as a strategic partner to Product Design, Engineering, and Product Management, helping shape a cohesive and scalable product experience.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of product design experience, including significant hands-on experience working with design systems.

• Proven experience building, scaling, maintaining, or evolving a design system within a digital product environment.

• Strong expertise in component-based design, reusable interaction patterns, and systems thinking.

• Advanced proficiency in Figma and familiarity with modern design-system workflows and practices.

• Strong understanding of how design-system components and patterns translate into production code.

• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineers and navigate tradeoffs between flexibility, consistency, maintainability, and scalability.

• Hands-on experience with AI tools and a genuine curiosity about applying AI to design systems and product-development workflows.

• Excellent visual design, interaction design, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong ability to communicate design principles and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Portfolio demonstrating meaningful, measurable design-system work and its impact on product experiences.

• Experience in fintech, ecommerce, or other complex transactional product environments is a plus.

• Comfortable working in a remote environment and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

• Willingness to begin in a six-month contract-to-hire arrangement, with potential conversion to full-time based on mutual fit and business needs.

• Compensation: $95/hour.
