Full description

NOTICE: We are not able to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

About the Role

NetCyberOps is a managed security services company known for the quality of our work. We're hiring an entry-level Backend Python Developer (Full-Time W2) to help build and extend the web application our customers rely on to manage their security posture. Your focus will be the REST API that powers the product.

That platform is how our customers and our security team stay connected. Both sides use it to triage events and track remediation while keeping visibility into active threats. Because it sits at the center of real security work, it needs to reflect the quality our company stands for. When the API is slow or returns bad data, response times to actual incidents suffer.

Security and quality come first here, and we prioritize them over speed. We're looking for someone early in their career who writes careful code, asks good questions, and wants to get seriously good at backend engineering. You'll start with well-scoped work alongside a senior developer and grow into owning features end to end.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain Python REST API endpoints, starting with scoped tasks and taking on more ownership as you ramp.
  • Write database queries and migrations under review, and learn to reason about query performance and data integrity.
  • Contribute to backend services for security event ingestion, processing, and delivery.
  • Write unit and API integration tests for the code you ship.
  • Participate in code review, both as an author and, over time, as a reviewer.
  • Learn our API design and data modeling conventions, and bring questions and ideas to design discussions. We'd rather you push back on something that looks wrong than stay quiet.
  • Help improve tooling, CI, local dev setup, and documentation.

What We're Looking For

We're targeting 0–2 years of professional experience. Internships, co-ops, bootcamps, meaningful open source, or substantial personal projects all count as evidence. What matters most is that you can write clear code and explain why you wrote it that way.

Core Requirements

  • Solid Python fundamentals: data structures, error handling, testing, and comfort reading unfamiliar code.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar): writing queries, understanding schemas, and reading a migration.
  • Familiarity with core API concepts: HTTP methods and status codes, authentication, input validation, and error responses.
  • Clear written and verbal English. You'll work directly with our security analysts and sales team to understand what they need from the platform.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to building web APIs in Python. Flask preferred; Django, FastAPI, or similar is fine if you're willing to pick up Flask quickly.
  • Exposure to security-domain software (SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, or similar)
  • Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and web security basics (auth, CORS, CSP)
  • Familiarity with React and JavaScript
  • Comfort with Git and a basic understanding of code review and CI/CD.
  • A portfolio, GitHub profile, or project you can walk us through

Hiring Timeline (~2w)

  • Application
  • HR Screening Call (15m)
  • Technical Interview (1h)
  • Final Decision

Benefits

  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage
  • 401(k) with 6% employer match
  • PTO + Flexible Holidays
  • Performance-based bonus tied to company profits
  • Direct mentorship from senior engineers and real ownership as you grow
