Position Summary
As a Senior Data Engineer on the PUMA team within PBM Underwriting (UW), you will design, develop, and support scalable data transformation and forecasting solutions that drive underwriting and business decision-making. The team builds and maintains enterprise data pipelines that generate forecasted business outcomes, create aggregated P&L and underwriting datasets, and deliver analytics products and dashboards that enable UW teams to evaluate pricing, profitability, and business performance.
You will leverage technologies including Python, PySpark, SparkSQL, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake, SQL,ETL Framework,Metadata Framework and Git to build reliable, high-performing, and scalable data solutions. Working closely with underwriting, analytics, and business stakeholders, you will solve complex challenges related to data integration, forecasting accuracy, data quality, platform scalability, and performance optimization.
This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability and availability of critical data assets, supporting production operations, driving platform modernization, and delivering trusted data products and insights that support strategic and operational decisions across the PBM Underwriting organization.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or related data management roles.
3+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting large-scale data pipelines using Python, PySpark, and SparkSQL.
3+ years of experience working with Azure Databricks, Azure Ecosystem
Strong SQL development experience, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines and processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
Experience with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.
Experience supporting production data platforms, troubleshooting data issues, and implementing monitoring and operational support processes.
Experience working in Agile development environments and collaborating with cross-functional business and technology teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex data challenges.
Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable data solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to lead technical discussions, influence solution design, and drive engineering best practices.
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate, and reliable data products.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$101,970.00 - $203,940.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
