About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Product Development Manager to support Puracy on a short-term, high-impact engagement.

This role is focused on short-term execution and requires a dynamic CPG professional who can hit the ground running to manage and accelerate our current product development lifecycles.

You will work across formulation, packaging, suppliers, commercialization, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure key product development initiatives stay on track for our ecommerce and brick-and-mortar retail channels.

About Puracy:

Puracy was founded with a single goal - to make effective, plant-based cleaning and personal care products that are gentle enough to use around a growing family. We help families make conscious choices through our mission to create safe, effective, and naturally-derived household products. Built on transparency, clean ingredients, and a deep commitment to protecting people and the planet, we’re redefining what clean living means.

What You'll Do:

Pipeline Execution & Management

  • Take immediate ownership of current product development lifecycles already in progress, ensuring critical milestones are met from formulation approval to final production.
  • Partner with operations to monitor project budgets and product costing for active developments, ensuring final products meet established margin targets.

Product Development

  • Formulation & Packaging: Drive the final selection and approval stages for raw materials and packaging. Actively manage ongoing relationships with contract manufacturers, formulators, fragrance houses, and packaging suppliers to prevent delays.
  • Regulatory & Quality Assurance: Ensure products in the pipeline comply with relevant federal, state, and industry regulations (e.g., EPA, Safer Choice, EWG) without compromising on performance standards.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the immediate central hub for product development, coordinating daily with internal teams—including Brand, Operations, Regulatory/Legal, Creative, and Retail—to keep projects moving smoothly.

Launch & Commercialization

  • Manage and update detailed project timelines to guarantee on-time delivery for upcoming product launches. Proactively identify roadblocks and execute immediate solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Oversee the final stages of commercialization for imminent launches, including manufacturing readiness, quality control checks, timely completion of content, and successful handover to the scale team.

Who You Are:

  • With at least 5 years of relevant experience in Product Development, R&D, Product Management, Operations, Buying, or a related function within CPG.
  • Hands-on experience developing and launching consumer products from concept through commercialization.
  • Experience in cleaning, household goods, beauty, or personal care is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers, formulators, packaging suppliers, or other product development partners.
  • Working knowledge of formulation, ingredients, packaging development, and product commercialization.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and projects with tight timelines.
  • Strong understanding of US consumer product and retail environments.
  • Experience with sustainable packaging, natural/plant-based formulations, or environmentally focused brands is a plus.
  • Familiarity with retailer requirements and documentation for retailers such as Walmart, Target, or Amazon is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working independently and stepping into an established team and workflow with minimal ramp-up.

Contract Terms & Engagement Clause:

Engagement Type: Independent Contractor

Duration: 2-3 Months (Immediate Start)

Rate: $40-60/hour

Location: Boston, MA

Scope: This position is a project-based contractor engagement focused on executing active pipeline projects, coordinating vendor/R&D deliverables, and driving near-term product launches over a 2 to 3 month period.
