Working arrangements: Remote working arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the supervising manager, subject to business needs.
Length of contract: 12 months
Contract extensions: 2x 12 months
Security clearance: Must have Baseline security clearance
Rates: $120 - $150 per hour (inc. super)
The Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) strives to encourage the sustainable growth of Australian industries including the delivery of a national innovation system to drive knowledge creation, international competitiveness and greater productivity.
The CIO Group provides a range of enabling services and operations delivery to the department and to Australian businesses and are seeking experienced and motivated Cloud Engineers and/or Architects with a minimum of 5 years' experience to assist with the delivery of various ICT Projects across the CIO Group.
Cloud Engineers and/or Architects will be required to:
- Develop enterprise level cloud platform architectures for MS Azure and M365;
- Develop high level solution architectures for cloud-based systems;
- Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers;
- Provide impact analysis of user/stakeholder requirements;
- Ensure that the enterprise and system solutions maintain adherence to whole-of-government standards;
- Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems;
- Liaise with a cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects & testers to produce solutions in accordance with stakeholder requirements and project objectives;
- Liaise with the department’s Service Experience team to ensure architectural decisions incorporate user experience considerations
- Liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment to target architectures and technology.
- Provide expertise and assistance in platform automation – testing, continuous integration and deployment
- Promote key enterprise architecture principles as applicable to cloud platforms – re-use before buy/build, configure over customise, open data/access over siloed functionality
- Promote and provide assistance to ensure solutions align with the DTA’s Digital Service Standard
- Be strategic, a leader and influencer.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
Essential criteria
- Cloud experience: Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including:
o Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management
o Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments
o Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights
o Integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
o Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control
- Cultural fit:
o Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams o Ability to work with technical and non-technical staff at all levels. o Ability to collaborate and mentor team members to promote team harmony
- Agile:
o Experience working with Agile Multi-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, user friendly and reliable solutions that meet stakeholder, citizen, and business expectations. o Ability to pragmatically change direction and scope as new information is discovered and challenges or opportunities present themselves
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience 5yrs+ implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies.
The Cloud Architect/Engineer will: o Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for MS-Azure. o Provide impact analysis and technical guidance in design and development of project work aligned with WoG Standards
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures
- Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems.
- Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
