Software Engineer - Python (Contractual role)

A Python Developer is responsible for building scalable, high-performance backend systems that power our platform. This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on backend development experience, and the ability to build reliable, production-grade services that support millions of users.

The ideal candidate is a smart, ambitious engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, thrives in fast-paced environments, and takes end-to-end ownership of their work. You will collaborate closely with the engineering team on critical platform migration initiatives and contribute to building highly scalable backend systems.

Key Responsibilities• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.

• Build and optimize REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Contribute to key engineering initiatives, including:
• Media Pipeline Migration to Temporal
• Communication Platform Migration

• Work with MySQL, Kafka, and AWS to build reliable and fault-tolerant systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Take end-to-end ownership of features—from design and development to deployment and monitoring.
• Continuously improve engineering practices, code quality, and system performance.

Candidates who demonstrate:

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in backend development using Python.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade backend applications.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL or other relational databases.
• Experience working with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging/event-streaming platforms.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and software development best practices.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and ownership mindset.
