Junior Python Backend Engineer

About the team

We are a focused engineering team of 5 to 9 people at a multi-product tech SaaS company. We work across personalization, recommendation, fraud detection, and some GenAI, through real-time, near-real-time, and batch pipelines. The team is a blend of Python backend engineers, ML engineers, QA (manual and automation), a data engineer, and data scientists. Our shared mandate is to take experimentation from our data scientists and turn it into robust, production-grade systems, either as standalone services or integrated into wider platforms.

The role

You will write production backend code from day one, with strong senior engineers and a hands-on engineering manager to learn from. You will contribute to real systems such as fraud detection, recommendations, and personalization, building Python services, APIs, and background workers, and picking up the data side hands-on. This is a growth role: we are looking for strong fundamentals and drive, and we will invest in developing you.

 Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python services, REST APIs, and background workers

• Work with data pipelines, stream consumers, and database and cache layers

• Write tests and contribute to code quality and reviews

• Learn the stack hands-on, with mentorship

• Take part in the team's on-call rotation as you ramp up, with support

• Collaborate with senior engineers to ship reliable features

  Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of Python backend experience (strong internships or projects count)

• Solid Python fundamentals and eagerness to go deep

• Basic SQL and a working understanding of REST APIs

• Curiosity and willingness to learn fast

• Good problem-solving and communication

Nice to have

• FastAPI

• Async programming

• Exposure to Redis or Kafka

• Docker

• Any data engineering or ML exposure

• SaaS or high-scale product domain experience
