Job Description Summary

GE HealthCare is looking for a Sr. Manager Software Engineering to lead the Display and Image Analysis software team within Cardiovascular Ultrasound. This high-performing, multidisciplinary team consists of software developers, data engineers, and data scientists. The team works across filtering and visualization of ultrasound data, quantification tools, UX and UI, AI-enabled workflow solutions, and application software.

No candidate is expected to be an expert in every area covered by the team. Success in this role requires strong people leadership, solid software-development experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to understand complex topics, ask the right questions, and be a trusted discussion partner across disciplines.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of software developers, data engineers, and data scientists.
  • Create an environment that supports collaboration, professional growth, innovation, and strong delivery.
  • Provide technical and organizational direction across the team’s broad portfolio of software-development activities.
  • Engage in technical discussions, challenge assumptions constructively, and help the team identify risks, dependencies, and appropriate solutions.
  • Balance delivery, product quality, technical sustainability, and longer-term development.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, clinical and technical experts, program leadership, and other engineering teams.
  • Take ownership of product quality within the team’s domain and drive investigations and corrective and preventive actions when needed.
  • Support innovation and help translate clinical needs, research, and new technologies into valuable product solutions.
  • Coach team members and support their professional and technical development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of four years of professional experience, including experience in software development and a solid understanding of software-engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated people-management, project-leadership, or technical-leadership experience.
  • Technical breadth and curiosity, with the ability to engage specialists and make sound judgments outside your primary area of expertise.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.

Desired Characteristics:

  • A leadership style combining clear direction, trust, curiosity, and respect for specialist expertise.
  • Experience in one or more relevant areas, such as image processing, visualization, data engineering, data science, AI, or UX/UI.
  • Experience developing complex products in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience from medical technology, healthcare software, or another regulated industry.
  • Sound judgment when balancing resources, time, technical risk, quality, and product value.
  • An ability to deliver results across multiple priorities.
  • A passion for developing both people and products.
