This is a remote position.
An exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join a large international institution on a freelance Time & Materials basis. You will focus on evaluating, deploying, and maintaining EDR and CNAPP security solutions across on-premises, public cloud, and containerised enterprise environments.
- Contract Type: Freelance / Contractor
- Rate: Daily rate available
- Language Requirement: English fluent
- Location & Onsite Requirement: Remote within the EU. Onsite presence required for one week per quarter, plus on/off-boarding
Responsibilities:
- Support sysadmin teams with EDR and CNAPP agent deployments across cloud and on-premises systems.
- Secure physical hosts, VMs, VDIs, and containers on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Define, test, enforce, and document custom security policies for hosts, containers, and orchestrators.
- Coordinate with infrastructure teams and vendors to ensure tool uptime and optimization.
- Integrate EDR/CNAPP platforms with broader security tools and conduct regular security posture audits.
- Troubleshoot complex operational issues using system log analysis.
Requirements
Must-Have Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional experience in field-related cybersecurity roles.
- 2+ years of post-secondary education in Computer Science, ICT, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- At least 1 Cybersecurity certification plus 1 certification in engineering, incident response, architecture, or governance.
- Hands-on experience evaluating, deploying, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining EDR platforms (e.g. Microsoft Defender) and CNAPP tools (e.g. Sysdig).
- Practical experience with container technologies and orchestrators (e.g. Kubernetes).
- Fluent English.
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
- SIEM integration experience (e.g. Splunk).
- Exposure to SOAR platforms (e.g. XSOAR) and vulnerability management.
- Scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Fundamental understanding of IAM, cloud security principles, and network troubleshooting.
