This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Replication Engineer – Stelo/StarQuest based in Brazil.
This role offers the opportunity to engineer and optimize critical data replication environments across complex enterprise systems.You will work with replication technologies to move data reliably between databases, infrastructure environments, and cloud platforms.The position combines hands-on configuration, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and automation.You will play an important role in maintaining resilient data pipelines with strong availability, security, and recovery capabilities.Collaboration with DBAs, infrastructure teams, and other technical stakeholders will be central to ensuring reliable data operations.The role also involves strengthening monitoring, documentation, disaster recovery, and high-availability practices.It is well suited to an experienced data integration professional who enjoys solving complex infrastructure and replication challenges.

Accountabilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and manage SQDR and SQDR Plus environments, including intermediate hosts and control databases.
- Implement and monitor Change Data Capture (CDC) processes using native database log APIs or ODBC according to source-system requirements.
- Design and implement replication topologies, including one-to-one, hub-and-spoke, and fan-out architectures.
- Configure and maintain replication jobs, agents, services, and web-based management consoles.
- Establish failover and load-balancing configurations to improve replication resilience, availability, and continuity.
- Troubleshoot replication failures, log-mining issues, ODBC/API connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize replication performance through appropriate parallel job configuration, CPU/core allocation, memory utilization, and thread management.
- Work closely with database and infrastructure teams on archive-log settings, database triggers, schema changes, and related dependencies.
- Define and maintain SLA thresholds, alerts, monitoring processes, and operational dashboards for replication environments.
- Maintain appropriate security controls, including role-based access, logging, auditing, and secure system configurations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation covering replication architecture, recovery procedures, operational standards, and client-specific playbooks.
- Participate in disaster recovery and high-availability validation, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience in data replication, data integration, database engineering, or a closely related technical role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Stelo/StarQuest SQDR and SQDR Plus, including installation, architecture, configuration, and administration.
- Solid understanding of Change Data Capture concepts, transaction-log mining, and archive-log management.
- Experience working with enterprise databases such as DB2 LUW/zOS, Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL.
- Familiarity with ODBC/JDBC connectivity and native database APIs, including technologies such as Oracle LogMiner and DB2 capture agents.
- Experience administering Linux and Windows server environments.
- Understanding of replication architecture, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and high-availability principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex replication and connectivity issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with DBAs, infrastructure engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
- Strong documentation skills and a structured approach to operational processes and recovery procedures.
- Relevant database or data integration certifications are a plus.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or AWS RDS is advantageous.
- Scripting experience with Shell, PowerShell, or Python for automation, monitoring, and alerting is a plus.
