Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP). Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

This role is contributing to the ABB MOTR Traction organization in Untersiggenthal Switzerland. Main stakeholders are the Traction R&D management and System Engineering organization

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Design and develop embedded software for real-time and embedded VxWorks and Linux systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable products.
  • Architect and maintain DevSecOps pipelines enabling automated build, test, security scanning, and release processes.
  • Implement secure coding practices and drive cybersecurity compliance throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Develop automated testing frameworks and ensure high software quality and reliability.
  • Lead code reviews, technical mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage software configuration, release management, and lifecycle support activities.
  • Drive the adoption of modern DevSecOps and Secure SDLC best practices across engineering teams.

Qualifications for the role

  • Solid degree in computer science, electrical engineering or electronics
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in embedded real time software engineering, applying modern C/C++ concepts. Python is an advantage
  • You are passionate about agile methodologies in SW engineering applying SCRUM in a SAFe® value creation Framework
  • Ability to demonstrate your experience with DevSecOps producing high-quality code that qualifies for Cyber Security Standards like IEC 62443 and CRA.
  • Possess strong analysis and complex problem-solving skills
  • You are qualified in the use of Azure DevOps, Git version control and Jenkins CI/CD.
  • Experience in working with Linux based system, preferably Real Time Linux
  • You are at ease communicating in English, German is advantageous.
