Purpose:  The Security Systems Design Engineer is responsible for the concept and design of electrical security systems.  This individual works in conjunction with the BAS leadership and field team to ensure customer security specifications are satisfied and systems are correctly implemented.

 

 

Essential Duties include the following:

Design integrated electronic security systems based on customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Develop system architectures, block diagrams, floor plans, riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and detailed design documentation. Design solutions incorporating technologies such as:

Access control systems Video surveillance / CCTV Intrusion detection Intercom and communication systems Visitor management Physical security technologies Perimeter security Video analytics and other emerging security technologies

Review architectural drawings, construction documents, site surveys, and existing system documentation to develop accurate system designs. Perform site surveys and gather technical information required for system design and implementation. Select appropriate equipment, hardware, software, and system components based on project requirements. Develop bills of materials (BOMs), equipment schedules, cable schedules, and installation documentation. Prepare technical specifications, submittals, and other engineering documentation. Coordinate designs with electrical, network, IT, architectural, and other engineering disciplines. Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, codes, customer requirements, and company engineering practices. Assist project managers and field teams with technical questions, installation issues, system configuration, and commissioning. Review contractor and vendor submittals for technical accuracy and compliance with design requirements. Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and customer presentations as needed. Troubleshoot design and integration issues and develop practical technical solutions. Maintain current knowledge of security technologies, manufacturers, standards, and industry best practices. Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, design templates, and processes. Qualifications 

 

Qualifications/ Requirements:

1 year of prior experience in construction management project support or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field Proficient in MS Office and Bluebeam Proficient with construction accounting system Possesses strong organizational skills and be able to plan and coordinate on multiple projects Effectively communicates both verbally and through written format Demonstrates ability to maintain rapport with customers, vendors and employees

 

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Performance of the job may require sitting, handling items and working with fingers to type, complete paperwork, and handle other administrative functions. Occasionally, may be asked to walk, stand, talk and hear others in conversation by phone or in person.
