The Opportunity

As a dedicated Business Support Analyst Senior, you will analyze complex business, financial, and operational data to support business planning, process optimization, and informed decision-making. Leveraging accounting knowledge and an understanding of reconciliation processes, you will identify opportunities to improve end-to-end processes, automate workflows, strengthen controls, reduce risk, and deliver business value through cross-functional collaboration.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, or Charlotte, NC

What you'll do:

  • Develops and maintains an understanding of overall complex business functions with in-depth knowledge of specific areas/functions and related activities.
  • Provides expertise in development of business goals and objectives to exploit all distribution channels, leverage use of data, and simplify processes.
  • Provides operational support on current complex processes and supports business operations and management in identifying opportunities and solutions to meet current and future business needs.
  • Validates information and interfaces with other departments to include presentations of documented findings, alternatives and recommended actions.
  • Participates in the planning, research, analysis, development, and implementation of new and modifications to existing applications and processes to provide new or improved capabilities, products, and/or services.
  • Maintains broad system knowledge, stays current on all system enhancements, identifies training needs and implements plans.
  • Maintains broad business knowledge, stays current on key business strategies & initiatives and identifies opportunities for support and enablement.
  • Assists with the documentation of new and revised departmental procedures.
  • Gathers information for complex processes, analyzes data and trends, identifies root causes, and develops work products.
  • Serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports and provides recommendations to improve matrix and reporting controls.
  • Develops and analyzes additional ad-hoc reports as needed by Management and or Regulatory Agencies.
  • Contributes on policies, standards, risk management and controls related to relevant processes.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.

Experiences that will support your success:

  • 6 years of experience in end-to-end business analysis, financial operations, accounting support, and/or operational planning, including requirements gathering and documentation, reconciliation processes, data analytics, process optimization, and current/future state analysis in support of business initiatives and operational excellence.
  • Advanced knowledge of systems coordination, financial and operational process improvement, automation identification, process optimization, risk management, and the development of management information requirements that support business objectives and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of business operations, accounting principles, reconciliation processes, internal controls, and systems/business requirements processes, with the ability to connect operational activities to financial outcomes.
  • Experience facilitating and driving collaboration across business partners to establish common understanding of business requirements, implement standardized enterprise processes, and influence positive business outcomes.
  • Knowledge of business analysis and reporting tools such as MS Visio, MS Excel, Tableau, SQL, and process automation solutions.
  • Experience identifying and implementing automation opportunities, process efficiencies, and control enhancements that reduce risk, improve data quality, increase operational effectiveness, and add measurable business value.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience leading complex reconciliations, investigating variances, identifying root causes, and implementing sustainable solutions that improve financial accuracy and operational effectiveness. 
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate end-to-end business processes and identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process simplification that reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and improve stakeholder experience. 
  • Experience assessing accounting impacts of operational activities and applying accounting principles to support business decisions, financial reporting accuracy, and process governance. 
  • Proven track record of partnering across Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Operations, and third-party vendors to resolve complex issues, improve process execution, and drive business results. 
  • Experience building business cases and supporting implementation of process improvements, controls, or technology solutions that reduce operational and financial risk while creating measurable business value. 
  • Experience mentoring peers, leading knowledge-sharing initiatives, and driving adoption of best practices across teams. 
  • Experience supporting third-party (3P) oversight, governance activities, transition management, vendor performance monitoring, or control validation. 
  • US military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $85,040 - $162,550.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
