Job Description
Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

As a Java Full Stack Tech Lead, you will support the organisation, achieve its strategic objectives by the identification of business requirements and solutions that address business problems and opportunities.
To be a successful Java Full Stack Tech Lead you should have experience with:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Java (JDK 17+), Spring Boot, Spring Framework (Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Batch), and the development of highly scalable, secure enterprise applications.
- Strong expertise in designing and developing RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services, including JPA/Hibernate persistence frameworks.
- Experience integrating frontend applications with backend services using REST APIs and API documentation tools such as Swagger and Postman.
- Proficiency in implementing application security using OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, secure token handling, input validation, and OWASP security controls.
- Strong knowledge of modern front-end technologies including React 18, React Native, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Redux.
- Experience with Git, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and cloud-native deployment practices.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorisation, and secure application development principles.
- Proven experience leading technical design discussions, conducting code reviews, and mentoring development teams within Agile environments.
Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued:
- Experience with API Gateway patterns, performance tuning, and cloud services on AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as ELK, Splunk, and AppDynamics.
- Expertise in automated testing frameworks and tools including JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Jest, Appium, Detox, Insomnia, and Postman.
- Experience with Kafka or other messaging platforms for event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of BPM/BAMOE, workflow orchestration, process automation, and BPMN 2.0.
- Deep understanding of system resiliency, fault tolerance, high availability, and performance optimisation.
- Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies and large-scale enterprise delivery models.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Architects, QA, Security, and DevOps teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical solutions to business and senior leadership audiences.
- Banking domain experience in areas such as Payments, Lending/Mortgages, Customer Onboarding, or Core Banking Systems.
