Aero Performance Group is seeking a Building Performance Data Analyst to support our growing Building Operational Performance (BOP) practice.

This role is ideal for a technically minded individual who enjoys working with data, building systems, analytics, energy performance, and operational improvement. The analyst will help transform large amounts of facility data into actionable insights that improve building performance, occupant comfort, energy efficiency, environmental quality, and system reliability.

This position sits at the intersection of engineering, facilities operations, analytics, commissioning, and technology.

The Building Performance Data Analyst plays a key role in identifying trends, diagnosing operational issues, and helping clients make data-driven decisions.

Position Summary

The Building Performance Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and visualizing building and operational data to identify improvement opportunities across commercial, healthcare, higher education, laboratory, industrial, and critical environment facilities.

This role works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, TAB professionals, Commissioning Providers, Controls Specialists, and clients to support building optimization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Management

  • Collect and organize data from Building Automation Systems (BAS), utility systems, energy meters, HVAC equipment, sensors, and monitoring platforms.
  • Validate data quality and identify anomalies, missing information, or reporting issues.
  • Maintain historical performance databases and project datasets.
  • Assist with development of data collection standards and quality control procedures.

Analytics & Performance Evaluation

  • Analyze building system performance trends.
  • Evaluate HVAC system operation, airflow performance, temperature control, pressure relationships, energy use, and equipment operation.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, control issues, scheduling problems, and comfort-related concerns.
  • Assist in fault detection and diagnostics efforts.
  • Support Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) programs.

Reporting & Visualization

  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations for internal teams and clients.
  • Present findings in a clear and actionable format.
  • Create trend summaries, performance scorecards, and operational improvement recommendations.
  • Support development of client-facing deliverables.

Project Support

  • Support Building Performance Project Managers and Engineers with technical analysis.
  • Participate in facility assessments and investigations.
  • Assist with commissioning and retro-commissioning projects.
  • Support implementation and tracking of corrective measures.

Technology & Innovation

  • Assist with deployment of analytics platforms and monitoring technologies.
  • Support development of automated reporting tools.
  • Explore new technologies related to smart buildings, analytics, AI, and digital building operations.
  • Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and data visibility.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Architectural Engineering

  • Related field

OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
