Responsibilities:• Act as the Data Governance SME, working closely with Finance and key stakeholders across Data Management, Risk Management, and IT.

  • Drive data governance initiatives and ensure alignment with governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and project objectives.
  • Execute data governance activities, including KDE identification, EUC criticality assessments, data lineage, data quality, and control implementation.
  • Identify and document data aggregation processes and support the implementation of data governance tools and solutions.
  • Apply industry best practices and experience from data governance and regulatory transformation programs.
  • Define project milestones, governance structures, and roles and responsibilities (R&R).
  • Develop practical implementation plans by aligning project methodologies with the bank’s operating model.
  • Collaborate closely with the BCBS239 program team to ensure alignment across workstreams and governance forums.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with project standards, methodologies, and reporting requirements.

 

Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or a related discipline within the financial services industry, preferably in banking.
  • Experience supporting data governance, regulatory reporting, risk data, or data transformation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops and drive stakeholder alignment across business and IT teams.
  • Hands-on experience with data governance concepts, including data ownership, data quality, data lineage, and controls.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience working with Risk Management, Finance, or Accounting functions, particularly in regulatory or management reporting, will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of BCBS239, RDARR, or similar regulatory data programs will be preferred.
  • Experience identifying Key Data Elements (KDEs), documenting end-to-end data lineage and data flows, and implementing data quality controls and monitoring processes will be preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with data governance or data lineage tools (e.g., Collibra) will be an advantage.
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting, internal reporting, finance/accounting processes, and related systems will be beneficial.
  • Experience working with Japanese financial institutions will be advantageous.
  • Project management experience, including progress tracking, issue management, risk management, and stakeholder management, will be preferred.
  • Experience preparing reports and presenting updates to senior management and executives will be an advantage.
