Job Overview

NYSERDA seeks an individual who is enthusiastic about advancing building decarbonization to join our Program Operations & Partnerships (POP) team and work on the Appliance Upgrade Program (AUP). As part of the Clean and Resilient Buildings business unit, this team engages with both the private and public sectors to increase the adoption of energy-efficient appliances through a retail point-of-sale (POS) program, along with supplementary electrical upgrades as necessary. The team works with a network of external Participating Retailers and Contractors, along with various federal, state, and local partner agencies and other internal NYSERDA teams.

The Project Manager / Project Manager II will be responsible for managing all day-to-day project-related activities for the Appliance Upgrade Program as well as supervising implementation partners. This individual will also assist in planning and developing interventions and strategies that 1) enhance the customer, retailer, and contractor experience and 2) accelerate the scale and penetration of energy-efficient appliances in New York State. This individual will also be responsible for project management, reporting, budgeting, contract management, required analysis, and stakeholder engagement associated with the teams’ programs and other interventions introduced into the market, as applicable.

They will also have a relentless focus on execution and prioritization, be comfortable interacting with and seeking feedback from stakeholders, have high attention to detail, and have an internal drive to set and achieve personal and team goals.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage, develop, and foster strategic relationships with leading industry retailers and contractors to accelerate the adoption of energy efficient appliances and associated electrical upgrades.
• Develop and implement high-impact interventions and program and process workflows that optimize the customer, Participating Retailer, and Participating Contractor experiences.
• Support the development, testing, and implementation of necessary program workflows in AUP’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems of record in accordance with strategic and operational needs.
• Partner with federal, state, and local agencies and authorities to coordinate program offerings and services.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local program requirements and oversee all associated reporting requirements.
• Manage implementation of initiatives, monitor initiative performance, and provide recommendations grounded in analysis and market feedback to optimize interventions for greater impact.
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis for budgets and impacts of interventions using spreadsheet analysis with well-documented assumptions.
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors to ensure NYSERDA's interests are promoted and protected in support of the above, and in accordance with NYSERDA and New York State Procurement Policies.
• Develop Statements of Work (SOWs), provide oversight, feedback and review of all tasks and deliverables and approve invoices for assigned contracts.
• Develop Requests for Proposal (RFPs), NYSERDA Program Opportunity Notices (PONs) and other solicitations documents, to ensure program objectives are met.
• Represent NYSERDA at meetings and events with external stakeholders.
• Contribute to a team culture of openness, collaboration, and decisive action.
• Become an invaluable member of NYSERDA’s Program Operations & Partnerships team, collaborating with staff in Albany, Buffalo and NYC.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• For Project Manager (Salary: $78,333-$131,298)• Bachelor's degree and 5 years' of relevant experience in building energy efficiency or a related field

• For Project Manager II (Salary: $93,659-$131,298)• Bachelor's degree and 6 years' of relevant experience in building energy efficiency or a related field

• Knowledge of and insight into building electrification, building and energy codes, regulatory proceedings, and environmental and economic impacts, opportunities, and impediments across the residential building sector.
• Understanding of code and policies, building science, engineering, and related construction market issues for residential buildings.
• Track record for building effective partnerships, facilitating consensus-building among multiple stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g., Salesforce) and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms (e.g., Tableau)
• Familiarity with Passive House certification processes and other third-party standards such as LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, ENERGY STAR, WELL, Fitwell, EnerPhit, etc.
• Exemplary program and project management skills with the ability to set priorities, develop and execute on a workplan, balance research, analysis, a stakeholder engagement with pragmatism, and an action-bias to deliver activity in the market.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style.
• Exceptional organizational, time management and planning skills to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability and appetite to learn and assimilate new information and think holistically through complex problems with technical and non-technical components.

• Ability to travel 5-10 % across New York State.

Preferred Qualifications

• For Project Manager • Master's degree and 4 years' of relevant experience in building energy efficiency or a related field

• For Project Manager II • Master's degree and 5 years' of relevant experience in building energy efficiency or a related field

• Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, MBA
• CEM or CEA Certification
• Personal accreditation with a relevant third-party building rating system (e.g., LEED AP, etc.)
