Department Summary:

Join MITRE’s Mission Resilience and Crypto Department (N157).  Our work program is central to the cyber resilience of DoD missions and integral to the activities of the other MITRE portfolios. In partnership, our goal is to ensure Cyberspace Superiority and ensure Joint Forces can achieve their missions in a contested cyberspace environment.

MITRE’s Mission Resilience and Crypto Department seeks a passionate, talented engineer to enhance cyber resiliency in US Air Force (AF) systems. The successful candidate will support the implementation of cyber resilient capabilities with a focus on research, development, and engineering aimed at maximizing the trust and assurance of systems, software, and protocols. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree in cyber, electrical engineering, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar field.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Basic knowledge of systems engineering and cyber security processes and tools. 
  • Good organizational, writing, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work successfully in small teams of engineers and collaborate on engineering products, demonstrations, and presentations.
  • Prior experience as an intern at MITRE in the last 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with DoD systems, specifically aircraft avionics and mission systems.
  • Basic understanding and experience with embedded serial protocols such I2C, SPI, UART, MIL-STD-1553, 1394b, ARINC-429, etc.
  • Proficiency with scripting and general programming.
  • Experience presenting technical material in the form of proposals, white papers, technical reports, and presentations.
  • 1 year of experience in cyber or related engineering field.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$85,200 - $106,500 - $127,800 Annual
