We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join one of our top contributor teams:
PDS is a core team from IT Web department that provides secure, reliable, and scalable data and API services that make it easy to retrieve, manage, and distribute product data, ensuring accurate and timely information for consumers. That makes us a key part of the product launches, product information distribution and media management. PDS owns the tool used by the Marketing team to manage product data, as well as the processes for distributing that information internally and externally across Garmin and to Garmin vendors.
Technology stack: Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Valkey, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Cloudflare, Kibana, AppDynamics, Uptrends.
We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require 5 days in the office each week.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance software solutions for Garmin's server-side applications.
- Apply software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Understand business needs and translate them to technical solutions.
- Add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.
- Help ensure resiliency and high availability of the applications owned by your team.
- Help set up monitoring for the new features being developed.
- Troubleshoot software issues.
- Write and maintain technical documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or relevant field.
- Strong knowledge of Java and OOP principles.
- Solid knowledge of unit testing (Junit, Mockito)
- Good knowledge of relational databases.
- Experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
- Experience in implementing web services (REST).
- Familiar with asynchronous communication in distributed systems.
- Familiar with building tools and continuous delivery.
- Familiar with the Agile methodology.
- Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good English skills, verbal and written.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience.
Would be a great plus if you:
- Have knowledge or passion to learn about the monitoring tools used to ensure the stability of our systems: AppDynamics, Uptrends, ELK stack, Splunk.
