Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) is looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented System Development Engineer with a diverse skill set to provide infrastructure support, development, and automation solutions for the WWOS Security Integrations Group (SIG), Infrastructure Team.

As a member of the team, you will play an active role in maintaining, optimizing, and automating our global infrastructure across both cloud-based and on-premise environments. You'll work with AWS services, including EC2 and CloudWatch, managing monthly patching cycles and coordinating system updates on Amazon Operations' physical security infrastructure, including access control, video (CCTV), and Mercury security hardware. Your focus will be on operational stability, infrastructure KTLO (Keep The Lights On), and driving technological advancement through automation, standardization, and process improvement.

Key job responsibilities - Research, analyze, and remediate security vulnerabilities through thorough testing and validation - Manage AWS infrastructure using AWS Console and Ansible for configuration management - Perform deep-dive technical analysis of Windows operating systems and infrastructure - Develop and maintain automation and tooling using PowerShell, Python, YAML (Ansible playbooks), and React - Provide comprehensive infrastructure support for critical system issues across cloud and on-premise devices - Support and maintain Mercury security hardware and CCTV systems - Drive automation and process improvement projects to enhance support delivery and reduce manual effort - Partner with Operations teams and other internal Amazon teams to resolve complex technical issues - Create and maintain technical documentation - Lead and execute ambiguous technical projects - Implement AWS services and cloud infrastructure solutions - Utilize version control systems (Git) and Amazon's internal development tools and code pipelines

About the team Security Integrations Group (SIG), a part of Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS), is primarily an engineering team for Amazon's physical security systems across the globe, but also participates in the design, development, deployment, and project management aspects of these systems. SIG provides 24/7 customer support for physical security systems, supporting Operations teams and other internal partners. SIG provides 24x7 support via support engineering teams in AMER, APAC, and EMEA. Engineers are available in-office at all times.

Basic Qualifications: - Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust - Experience with Linux/Unix - Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and infrastructure - Understanding of core software development concepts such as version control, debugging, and code structure - Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and systems

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes - Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, YAML) and version control (Git, CI/CD pipelines)
