The Opportunity: We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to Join our mission-critical development team supporting the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviation community as part of the Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS) ecosystem. As a Senior Software Engineer on the OOMA (Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity) team, you'll contribute to a suite of enterprise applications managing logistics, maintenance, and supply operations that directly impact naval aviation readiness worldwide Work on sophisticated, geographically-distributed DoD systems deployed across shore-based, afloat, CONUS, and OCONUS locations. This role offers the opportunity to architect high-impact solutions using legacy and modern technologies, solve complex technical challenges in secure environments, and be part of a critical national defense mission that keeps the fleet mission-ready.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale legacy and modern systems using Java, JBoss, and C/C++ in secure DoD environments
  • Lead software development following Agile methodologies, DevSecOps practices, and DoD Systems Engineering Technical Processes
  • Implement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with DoD security directives and federal technical standards
  • Troubleshoot and optimize integrated systems supporting Navy/Marine Corps aviation maintenance, logistics, and supply operations
  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to translate operational requirements into scalable, mission-focused IT solutions
  • Contribute to system architecture, Windows Server administration, and database management initiatives

Qualifications:

Required:

Security & Certifications (Must-Have):

  • Active Secret clearance with eligibility for T5 investigation
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (Security+, CASP, or CISSP)

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years professional software development experience
  • 5+ years direct experience with DoD or Department of the Navy systems
  • Demonstrated experience with DoD Business IT systems supporting aviation, logistics, or maintenance operations

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Java, JBoss, and C/C++
  • Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration and Active Directory
  • Server Administration (A +) Hands-on skill in Windows Server installation, role configuration (Active Directory, IIS, etc.), and system management
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and software architecture principles
  • Demonstrated experience with secure development in IL5/secured network environments

Desired:

  • Scripting experience: Perl, PowerShell, Batch, iSQL, or Apache Ant XML
  • Database administration or Sybase ASE experience
  • NALCOMIS or OOMA systems familiarity
  • Knowledge of Navy/Marine Corps aviation maintenance systems
  • 14+ years professional software development experience
