The 1035 Analyst plays an essential role in ensuring the smooth and successful completion of 1035 exchanges through accurate processing, proactive communication, and effective cross-functional coordination. This role is responsible for reviewing and processing exchange requests, contacting relinquishing companies to gather required information, and addressing issues that could delay completion, all while meeting established service levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process 1035 exchange work accurately and efficiently, ensuring documentation is complete and compliant with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Contact and coordinate with relinquishing carriers to obtain necessary information, clarify requirements, and expedite case resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Case Management and Tax to resolve issues, share updates, and maintain momentum on all in‑flight exchanges.
  • Monitor cases and follow up proactively to prevent delays and ensure timely completion of the exchange process.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate partners when needed, helping maintain workflow accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support process improvement efforts by identifying bottlenecks, communicating recurring challenges, and contributing to solutions that enhance departmental performance.
  • Success Flex Scheduling: In Office Tuesday & Wednesday (Grandview Yard).

This role does not qualify for employer sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented New Business Support Associate to join our Life New Business team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the efficient processing of new life insurance applications and policies. This position is ideal for someone with prior experience in the insurance industry who is looking to advance their career.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the processing and customer service of new life insurance applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.​ 
  • Communicate with clients, agents, and underwriters to gather necessary information and resolve application issues.​ 
  • Maintain and update internal systems with application status and client information.​ 
  • Provide training and support to entry-level team members.​ 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency.​ 
  • Handle complex customer inquiries and provide updates on application status.​ 
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new procedures and best practices.​ 
  • Participate in team meetings, lead team huddles, and contributes to Lean and continuous improvement initiatives. 

 

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.   

 

Reporting Relationships:  Reports to Manager. 

 

Typical Skills and Experiences:   

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, actuarial science, or a related field preferred.  

 

Experience: 2 years’ experience in processing or customer service type work preferred.​ 

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:  

  • The product and system restrictions for when application details are missing or hard to read​ 
  • Ability to de-escalate agent issues and handle accordingly ​ 
  • Ability to properly identify and sort complex firm/agent submitted completed application documents​ 
  • Expertise in identifying unique agent/firm/payment relationship connections​ 
  • Ability to use internally maintained systems and databases​ 
  • Ability to identify correct external firm and internal sales partners​ 
  • Ability to work in multiple systems 

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
