Job Description Summary

You will lead the team to enable successful Fixed Series Capacitor (FSC) and Synchronous Condenser (SC) project delivery for global FACTS projects. Scope of team responsibility includes projects' control hardware design (control cabinets, panels, wiring, and interconnection architecture), hardware qualification, implementation, verification, and commissioning support activities. Your daily work will involve interacting with Design Team members, other global engineering teams, Project Managers / Project Engineering Managers, Tendering, and NPI (New Product Introduction) program leaders.

Role & Responsibility

  • People Leadership for the team including development and reviews
  • Participate in projects' schedule planning and ensure resource availability
  • Support and drive team on achieving project delivery targets
  • Mentor first-time-right culture and development of skills
  • Responsible for leading overall requirements, design, implementation, and validation of control hardware for both FSC and SC (control cabinets, panels, wiring diagrams, power supplies, I/O architecture)
  • Develop and implement hardware design processes, standards, and tools for world-class global projects, service, and compliance
  • Review and approve hardware design documents, schematics, and bills of material (BOM); ensure quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost
  • Continuously improve the product in terms of reliability, manufacturability, delivery speed, and cost
  • Provide technical guidance that influences outcomes to other people, supporting moderate complexity projects and/or tasks
  • Play a key role in engineering design reviews and technical leadership, identifying potential hardware risks (electrical, thermal, EMI/EMC, mechanical) and proposing safe, reliable, and compliant solutions
  • Execute and provide guidance for the analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
  • Oversee hardware qualification testing (environmental, EMC/EMI, factory acceptance testing) and coordinate with manufacturing/fabrication partners

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience OR master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 8 years of related engineering experience
  • Experience in control hardware design, including control cabinet/panel design and wiring/schematic development (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools)
  • Experience with microprocessor control hardware, firmware/hardware interface architecture
  • Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes, and ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible with working hours and willing to travel to support projects globally

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% as required, which may include remote locations and international travel, and be willing to comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with the MKVIe platform hardware architecture
  • Experience with PLC hardware and I/O system design
  • Experience in power system protection hardware
  • Experience with RTDS testing of control hardware/systems
  • Experience with hardware obsolescence management and lifecycle planning
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing/fabrication teams on panel build and factory acceptance testing (FAT)

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
