JOB DESCRIPTION:
Thoratec Switzerland GmbH is part of the medical device division of Abbott Laboratories, a fortune 500 company with over 115’000 employees worldwide. We are the global market leader for implantable and extracorporeal blood pumps based on magnetic levitation technology. Our life-saving systems, which we develop and manufacture in Zurich, are used for advanced heart failure patients needing short- or long-term circulatory support.
Our location in the heart of the city of Zurich has around 130 employees in the areas of development, quality and production of the CentriMag System and the HeartMate 3. We are looking for a motivated and talented Project Manager SET
Your Role & Impact
As an individual contributor, the project manager plans and manages the execution of supplier focused projects for continuous improvements and sustaining engineering of products, manufacturing equipment and processes from concept through completion, responsible for all aspects of project planning, interdepartmental coordination and reporting. The following activities will be required of the Project Manager as normal functions of his or her job:
- To assess and fully understand the direction of management to address the customer’s needs.
- To plan and manage the project, including resource and risk management to close the project on time, within budget, and with the required quality.
- To support ongoing regulatory documentation and processes.
- Mild travel is required for training purposes, project planning activities and stakeholder management (internally/externally).
- Provide technical support to other functions if required.
What You'll Do
- Provides support to the long-range strategic goals of Abbott HF of remediating risks in production of purchased components at HF Zurich suppliers.
- Lead project with project core team members from different departments and external stakeholders (e.g. suppliers/services etc.).
- Understand the product processes at suppliers, and customer needs to continuously improve product performance (e.g. product requirements/specifications) and remediate quality risks.
- Direct and support technical activities, such as design changes, V&V testing, protocol releases, regulatory and patent submission to remediate risks identified at suppliers.
- Apply project management best practices and lean principles for the improvement of products and processes both internally and at suppliers in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Plan and manage Project Expense (PEx) to execute remediation activities at suppliers.
- Manage the project budget with accurate forecast, incl. mid- and end month reporting.
- Report regularly the project health status to executive management. Effective stakeholder management both internally (project sponsor, steering committee members etc.) and externally (e.g. suppliers, services etc.)
- Establish effective lines of communication and feedback with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Engineering, regulatory and R&D to ensure prompt attention and resolution of conditions that adversely affect quality or reliability.
What We're Looking For
- MS Engineering or equivalent knowledge.
- 3 – 10 of experience in Engineering
- Advanced experience in project management and best practices
- Strong Supplier Management Experience in a Project Setting
- Strong experience developing supplier relationships
- Good financial skills and business acumen
- Good written and oral communication skills for cross-functional management of project team and stakeholders
- Basic understanding of the regulatory and quality system requirements.
- Optional: Lean Six Sigma certificate
