Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer based in the United States.

This is a high-impact infrastructure role where you’ll own the systems that keep a critical financial technology platform reliable, secure, and scalable. As the first dedicated DevOps hire, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of cloud infrastructure, deployment systems, observability, and operational reliability. You’ll help engineering teams ship quickly and safely through robust CI/CD pipelines, reproducible infrastructure, and progressive delivery practices. The role also involves defining reliability targets and building mature monitoring, alerting, and incident response capabilities. Because the platform serves regulated financial institutions, you’ll play an important role in security, access controls, auditability, and compliance readiness. You’ll work in a lean environment where automation, pragmatic decision-making, and strong documentation are highly valued. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced DevOps or SRE professional who enjoys building foundational systems with significant autonomy.

Accountabilities:

  • Own and improve build, test, and deployment pipelines, enabling engineering teams to ship quickly while maintaining strong reliability and deployment confidence.
  • Implement progressive rollout and fast rollback strategies to reduce deployment risk and minimize service disruption.
  • Build and maintain fully reproducible cloud environments using infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Define and achieve uptime and reliability targets aligned with the needs and contractual expectations of financial institution customers.
  • Develop comprehensive monitoring, observability, alerting, and incident response capabilities to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Mature on-call operations by establishing structured processes, clear ownership, and mechanisms that reduce reliance on individual heroics.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure change management, access controls, and audit logging that provide meaningful evidence for compliance and customer due diligence.
  • Partner with security teams on SOC 2, ISO 27001, and financial institution security and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure costs, ensuring infrastructure spending scales efficiently with business growth.
  • Automate repetitive operational processes and replace manual workflows with reliable, documented mechanisms.
  • Document infrastructure, operational processes, and systems clearly to support maintainability and organizational scale.
  • Make pragmatic infrastructure decisions that address current business needs while creating a foundation capable of supporting future growth.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong preference for candidates who have served as an early, solo, or first dedicated infrastructure/DevOps hire.
  • Deep production experience with AWS or another major cloud provider, with strong AWS expertise particularly relevant to the role.
  • Strong infrastructure-as-code experience and the ability to build reproducible production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that enable engineering teams to deliver efficiently and reliably.
  • Strong observability expertise, including system instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and incident management.
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance-heavy environments, or strong willingness and ability to learn requirements such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
  • Automation-first mindset with a preference for scalable mechanisms over manual processes.
  • Strong documentation habits and ability to make complex infrastructure understandable to other engineers.
  • Pragmatic approach to infrastructure architecture, with the judgment to distinguish immediate requirements from systems that can be introduced as the organization scales.
  • Experience with fintech, banking, or another regulated industry is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture is beneficial.
  • Database operations experience, including backups, migrations, and performance management, is a plus.
  • Security-adjacent experience with secrets management, network segmentation, and least-privilege IAM is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of critical systems, and operate effectively within a small, fast-moving engineering organization.

Benefits:

  • $210,000–$230,000 salary.
  • Equity opportunities.
  • Sponsored 401(k).
  • Fully paid health, vision, and dental insurance.
  • Parental leave.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Remote work stipend.
  • Lifestyle stipend.
  • Twice-yearly company retreats.
  • Fully remote position within the United States.
  • Significant autonomy and end-to-end ownership of infrastructure and DevOps.
  • Opportunity to establish the DevOps function and shape infrastructure strategy from the ground up.
  • Work on technology supporting regulated financial institutions and mission-critical account-opening infrastructure.
  • Collaborative environment focused on automation, reliability, security, and pragmatic engineering.
