We are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join our team.

Summary

This position is responsible for working as a senior member of the Enterprise Data Engineering team. Takes a proactive and creative approach to expanding and optimizing enterprise-wide data and data pipeline architectures, collection of data from sources across the company, and visualization and reporting strategies of the collected data. Implements data pipelines, acquires, transforms, and optimizes data sets for various use cases across the company. Ensures data sets are prepared for easy consumption by internal and external customers. This position will collaborate regularly with developers, architects, analysts, data scientists, and business facing users across various data initiatives and will ensure architectures and strategies remain consistent throughout ongoing projects. Responsible for continued improvement of our company’s data architecture and visualization strategies to support next generation products and data initiatives. Builds a relationship with all levels of stakeholders to represent the team as a trusted partner across the business through their deep knowledge of the subject and proven ability to deliver valuable solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates intentional relationships with stakeholders of all levels to ensure solutions that utilize the data pipeline meet their needs and will provide actionable, data driven insights long term.
  • Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements with a heavy focus on automation, data delivery optimization, self-service, and scalability.
  • Forms deep working relationships with stakeholders including Executives, Product Management, Centers of Excellence, and others.
  • Creates and maintains data pipeline architectures to meet continuing needs of stakeholders.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements.
  • Collaborates with various infrastructure and architecture teams to optimize acquisition and transformation of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and other ‘big data’ technologies.
  • Innovates solutions to ensure easy visualization and reporting across the enterprise.
  • Defines and implements self-service/highly scalable visualization and reporting strategies across the enterprise.
  • Ensures data security across all implementations, data centers, cloud providers, client machines, etc.
  • Encourages, challenges, and collaborates with team members to build and optimize our data assets into an innovative competitive advantage.
  • Helps lead team activities and serves as a catalyst and initiator for innovation and creation of new solutions.
  • Serves as a mentor, trainer, and inspiration to other team members and partners with teams within the technology department.
  • Leads efforts to find, evaluate, and explore emerging and upcoming technologies to keep the team abreast of new trends and on the leading edge of developing practices, tools, and state of the art.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience in the Business Intelligence/Data Engineering field specifically, is desired.
  • Five to seven years of professional experience in information systems is required with at least three (3) years’ experience developing, architecting, managing, or maintaining enterprise grade software systems, database administration, or similar discipline.

Technical Requirements

Snowflake

5+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience

Strong understanding of:

Experience implementing Medallion Architecture:

  • Bronze (Raw), Silver (Conformed), Gold (Business-Ready)
  • Experience with CI/CD deployment using dbt Cloud or GitHub Actions

Experience ingesting data from:

  • CRM platforms (Salesforce, Dynamics)
  • Marketing Automation platforms (Eloqua, Marketo)
  • Web Analytics platforms (Google Analytics)
  • Advertising platforms
  • Product usage event data

 

Preferred Experience

  • Hightouch
  • Fivetran
  • Customer Data Platforms (CDPs)
  • Customer 360 architecture and design

Additional Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding and practical experience with MSSQL and other relational databases.
  • Proficient with unstructured NoSQL data storage tools and techniques.
  • Excellent working and functional knowledge of database architecture concepts and the fundamentals of sound enterprise technology architecture and design.
  • Understanding of modern data platforms and analytics technologies, including Hadoop, Redshift, Tableau, Power BI, Databricks, and related technologies.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong consensus-building skills and the ability to find common ground or mutual agreement across complex topics involving compromise, negotiation, and collaboration.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to management, peers, and stakeholders who may not possess a strong technical or data background.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Exhibits a passion for learning and continuous improvement. Takes responsibility for acquiring new skills and broadening knowledge.
  • Exhibits a commitment to the utilization of defined standards, governance, and processes.
