Type: Full Time Salaried

Compensation: $152,000-$183,000, 10-15% bonus

Location: Fully Remote, must be in the United States

Hours: Full Time Days

What to Expect:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cloud Architect to lead the strategic vision, architecture, and evolution of our enterprise cloud platform with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure. This leadership role is responsible for designing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions that support business growth while ensuring compliance with healthcare industry standards.

The Senior Cloud Architect will serve as the technical authority for cloud architecture, driving modernization initiatives, containerization strategies, infrastructure automation, and cloud governance. This role partners closely with engineering, product management, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and third-party development partners to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and high-performing cloud solutions. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership, influencing architecture decisions across the organization while mentoring engineering teams and establishing cloud best practices.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and execute the organization's cloud architecture strategy, roadmap, and standards with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, highly available, and resilient cloud solutions that align with business and technology objectives.
  • Lead cloud modernization initiatives, including application migration, cloud-native development, and platform optimization.
  • Establish enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, and governance models for cloud services.

Platform Engineering & Operations

  • Architect and optimize Azure infrastructure, networking, identity, storage, compute, and platform services.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, or equivalent technologies.
  • Lead containerization and Kubernetes platform strategy utilizing technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, ArgoCD, and Harbor Registry.
  • Ensure cloud environments are optimized for reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through continuous monitoring and improvement.

Security & Compliance

  • Design cloud security architectures that adhere to industry best practices and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Partner with Information Security teams to implement identity management, encryption, vulnerability management, logging, monitoring, and threat detection.
  • Establish cloud governance policies related to security, compliance, resource management, and operational excellence.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the principal technical advisor for cloud architecture across the organization.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to cloud engineers, software developers, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead architecture reviews and provide technical oversight for complex cloud initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend solutions that improve business capabilities and operational efficiency.

Collaboration & Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary technical liaison with third-party development and implementation partners.
  • Collaborate with product management, application development, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery of cloud initiatives.
  • Support project planning, solution design, risk assessment, and technical decision-making across multiple programs.

Operational Excellence

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.
  • Develop disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies for cloud platforms.
  • Monitor cloud utilization, spending, and operational health while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, or enterprise architecture.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise cloud solutions with Microsoft Azure.
  • Extensive experience with Azure services including Azure DevOps, Azure SQL, Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID), Azure Security Center (Microsoft Defender for Cloud), Azure Virtual Networks, Azure Monitor, and related platform services.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep).
  • Experience designing and supporting containerized platforms using Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Harbor Registry, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of networking, identity management, security architecture, disaster recovery, and high availability in cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting regulated environments with knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare security requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise architecture initiatives and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Security Engineer certifications.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and multi-cloud environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
  • Knowledge of observability platforms, automation frameworks, and cloud financial management (FinOps).
