In this role, you'll:
- Design, develop and enhance enterprise BI dashboards, reports and data products that support informed decision-making across Transport for NSW.
- Build intuitive, accurate and high-performing Tableau dashboards and visualisations that turn complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Use SQL to extract, transform, validate and analyse data from multiple sources, including developing efficient queries for reporting and analytics.
- Use Python for data preparation, analysis, automation and solving BI-related data challenges.
- Develop and refine data models and reporting structures using sound dimensional modelling and BI practices.
- Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical, user-focused BI solutions.
- Investigate and resolve data, reporting and data-quality issues while maintaining accuracy and reliability.
- Contribute to BI governance, reporting standards, data quality and continuous improvement across the BI environment.
- Explore emerging analytical technologies and new ways of working to improve efficiency, insights and customer outcomes

About you
You are an experienced BI professional who enjoys solving data problems and creating reporting solutions that people can easily understand and use.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Strong hands-on Tableau experience, including developing dashboards, calculations, data sources and interactive visualisations.
- Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write and troubleshoot queries for data extraction, transformation, validation and analysis.
- Practical Python experience for data analysis, transformation or automation.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data visualisation and BI development principles.
- Experience translating business requirements into effective dashboards, reports and analytical solutions.
- Experience identifying and resolving data-quality or reporting issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience delivering BI solutions within large or complex organisations.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in business intelligence, data analytics or a related field.
Desirable experience
- Experience with Power BI.
- Experience working with Databricks for data engineering, analytics, data processing or machine learning workloads.
- Experience with AWS Redshift, including data warehousing, SQL-based analytics and performance optimisation.
- Broader experience with enterprise data platforms, data warehousing, analytics and reporting processes.
