Full description

Meet the Team

Cisco’s Cloud Collaboration Technology Group (CCTG) builds and operates large-scale, cloud-native collaboration platforms including Webex. The team focuses on delivering highly reliable, observable, and scalable infrastructure powering millions of users globally. You will work at the intersection of platform engineering, SRE, and observability, enabling engineering teams to operate resilient distributed systems.

Your Impact

  • Design, build, and maintain Python-based automation, scripts, and operational tooling for Webex platforms
  • Develop and integrate backend services and APIs, primarily in Python
  • Support and help operate Kubernetes-based workloads across multi-region environments
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Argo CD, Helm, and GitHub Actions
  • Assist with infrastructure-as-code changes using Terraform on AWS
  • Build automation to detect, alert on, and remediate common production issues
  • Help maintain monitoring and logging integrations (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch/ELK)
  • Support security compliance through routine dependency and vulnerability patching
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with senior engineers to improve reliability and developer productivity
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response under guidance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in a software, DevOps, or platform engineering role
  • Python Proficiency – Strong, hands-on programming experience in Python for building automation, backend services, operational tooling, and CI/CD integrations, including familiarity with common libraries, packaging, testing, and code quality practices.
  • Cloud & Containers – Working knowledge of AWS and hands-on exposure to running containerized workloads on Kubernetes (deployments, services, config, basic troubleshooting), including Helm chart usage.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation – Practical exposure to Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent IaC tooling for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Scripting & Version Control – Comfort with Bash and Git-based workflows, and building or extending CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or Drone).
  • Operational Awareness – Experience supporting services in a production environment — responding to alerts, assisting with incident triage, and contributing to post-incident notes.

Nice to have qualifications:

  • Observability Tooling – Exposure to Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, or Splunk for metrics, logging, and dashboards.
  • API & Service Development – Experience building REST APIs or microservices in Python (e.g., FastAPI, Flask) and working with message/streaming systems such as Kafka.
  • GitOps Deployment Workflows – Familiarity with Argo CD application management, Helm bundle patterns, and canary or blue/green releases.
  • Security Basics – Awareness of container image hardening and security scanning tools (e.g., Anchore, Grype) for vulnerability remediation.
  • AI-Augmented Development – Experience using LLMs and AI coding assistants (e.g., Copilot, Claude, MCP servers) to accelerate development, automate runbooks, or assist with troubleshooting.
  • Cloud Cost Awareness – Interest in right-sizing cloud resources and improving efficiency of automation and data pipelines.
