About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to become a key long-term member of a collaborative engineering team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a cloud-based analytics platform used by hospitality businesses across New Zealand and play a pivotal role in its ongoing evolution.
Built on Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and hosted on AWS, the platform has an exciting product roadmap focused on expanding analytics capabilities, introducing AI-powered reporting, enhancing third-party integrations, and continuing platform modernisation. You'll work closely with an experienced team, contribute to technical direction, and progressively become the technical owner of the platform.

Ideal Profile
Essential Experience
• 5+ years of commercial Ruby on Rails development experience.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, including database design and query optimisation.
• Experience deploying, maintaining, and supporting applications on AWS, including services such as RDS, EC2, SES, AMI, and Load Balancers.
• Strong understanding of Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience with jQuery, HTML5, SCSS, Bootstrap, and Ubuntu.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
Preferred Experience
• Building and maintaining REST APIs.
• HighCharts.js.
• JavaScript, Hotwire, or modern front-end frameworks.
• Reporting and analytics platforms.
