Full description
About the Role
Our IT organization is in active transformation — modernizing a legacy platform portfolio, scaling Palantir Foundry as our enterprise data operating system, and building the data engineering capability needed to deliver trusted, actionable data across manufacturing operations, supply chain, finance, sales and customer care.
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines, integrations, and platform infrastructure that power our analytics and reporting ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of legacy system knowledge and modern platform delivery — and requires someone who can operate effectively in both worlds while driving the organization toward a more scalable, governed, and cost-conscious data architecture.
What you will do
Platform Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines in Palantir Foundry
- Own end-to-end pipeline delivery — from source system extraction through transformation, loading, and consumption layer publication
- Architect integrations between AM’s source systems (Mainframe, AS400, Oracle, Salesforce etc), legacy BI platforms (Informatica, SQL Server), and Foundry
- Lead technical delivery on data platform projects from scoping through production deployment, including documentation and handoff
Data Governance & Quality
- Implement and enforce data quality controls, lineage tracking, and metadata standards across the data platform
- Support the development and operationalization of AMI's data and governance framework
- Participate in master data management (MDM) initiatives, with accountability for data accuracy and consistency across source systems
- Build and maintain row-level security (RLS) frameworks and access control models within Foundry and other platforms
Compute & Storage Stewardship
- Monitor and optimize compute and storage consumption across cloud data platforms — identifying inefficiencies, right-sizing workloads, and proactively managing costs
- Develop and enforce platform usage standards that balance performance with cost discipline
- Partner with the Sr. Manager, Data Platforms to provide regular visibility into platform spend and capacity trends
Legacy Platform Support & Modernization
- Provide hands-on support and maintenance for legacy data platforms including Informatica and SQL Server based legacy BI Systems as part of an active modernization roadmap
- Contribute to the assessment and migration of legacy workloads to modern platforms, maintaining continuity during transitions
- Document legacy system logic, data flows, and transformation rules to support future-state architecture decisions
Consultants and Partner Collaboration
- Work effectively alongside external System Integrator (SI) partners
- Maintain AMI's ability to govern and own deliverables produced by SI partners — ensuring quality, adherence to standards, and knowledge transfer back to the internal team
- Serve as a technical counterpart during vendor engagements, platform implementations, and third-party data integrations
What you bring
- 2-3 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong SQL and at least one scripting or programming language (Java, Python, Spark, PySpark, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure preferred) and how compute and storage cost models work in practice
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline design, orchestration tools, and modern data stack components
- Data platform experience such as Snowflake, DataBricks, Azure Data factory, Informatica Cloud Services.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts,
- Working knowledge of data governance concepts: classification, lineage, MDM, data quality frameworks, and access control
- Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial operations is strongly preferred; familiarity with ERP-centric data environments (Oracle EBS, SAP, or similar) is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments
What would make you stand out
- Hands-on development experience with Palantir Foundry (Ontology, Code Repo, Pipeline Builder, Contour, Quiver, Object Storage, Workshop, AIP etc.)
- Exposure to divestiture, carveout, or M&A environments where data separation or platform replication was required
- FinOps awareness — track record of actively managing and reducing cloud data platform spend
- Palantir certifications or completed Palantir training bootcamps
Professional Strengths
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders including plant operations, finance, and supply chain leadership
- Strong ownership mindset — comfortable holding end-to-end accountability for platform health, not just assigned sprint tasks
- Experience working alongside consultants with the ability to direct, review, and govern externally produced work
- Comfortable operating in environments with both legacy complexity and modern platform ambition — patient with technical debt while actively driving toward better
