As a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Asset & Wealth Management Operations Tech, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role
Job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance business-critical applications using Java, Spring Boot, and ReactJS, with a primary focus on backend engineering (60%) and modern UI development (40%).
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
- Partner closely with Compliance, Operations, Front Office, and technology teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable, high-impact solutions supporting global investment compliance workflows.
- Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
- Drive automation across development, testing, deployment, and operational processes to improve engineering efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Leverage observability, SRE, and DevOps practices to ensure application reliability, proactive monitoring, and operational excellence for a globally critical platform.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience. 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on full-stack development experience with ReactJS preferred (or equivalent modern UI frameworks such as Angular or Vue).
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
- Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases, including query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with modern software delivery practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile development methodologies.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to deliver resilient, scalable, and maintainable software solutions
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with Public Cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Dynatrace, or ELK.
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Shell, or similar languages.
- Exposure to financial services, asset management, investment compliance, wealth management, or other regulated industry platforms
