Overview

Being good neighbors – helping people, investing in our communities, and making the world a better place – is who we are at State Farm. It is at the core of how we operate and the reason for our success. We're moving with urgency to become a Next Gen Good Neighbor, with technology that strengthens human connections and enhances the customer experience. As an employee, you'll spend less time navigating systems and more time applying judgment, empathy, and expertise in the moments that matter most.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Product Owner in our Platform Engineering team, you'll work hands-on to guide our CI/CD DevOps workload as we support our AWS RedHat Open Shift (ROSA) environment and build our next-generation delivery platform. This is a fast-paced role with a balanced mix of service support, continuous improvement, and innovative feature development.

You'll partner closely with Platform Engineering and Application Development teams to ensure our CI/CD processes and automation products create the best possible "builder" experience for enterprise customers. Working with your Engineering Manager, Senior Technical Engineers, Lead Software Engineers, and our Agile Delivery Lead, you'll help define features and roadmaps, manage capacity and expectations, and shape work intake and execution through our evolving Jira/Confluence toolset.

If you thrive in a dynamic, highly collaborative environment and enjoy communicating across technical and delivery teams, this role is for you. We also offer clear career progression within our Product discipline, including the path to Group Product Manager.

Primary focus areas:

  • Product Vision & Strategy– Understanding the “why” and long-term direction, translating goals into a clear product roadmap.
  • Backlog Management & Prioritization– Ordering work based on value, risk, dependencies, and stakeholder needs.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication– Building alignment, gathering feedback, and communicating decisions and trade-offs clearly.
  • Requirements & Outcome Clarity– Defining user/customer needs, articulating acceptance criteria, and focusing on measurable results.
  • Decision-Making & Trade-off Handling– Making timely choices about scope, timing, and impact, balancing competing priorities.

Qualifications

List of desired skills:

  • Agile methodologies - kanban, scrum
  • Demonstrated experience managing agile delivery using industry standard tooling such as Jira/Confluence
  • Strong learning agility
  • Ability to manage products in various degrees of "done"
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate many dependencies across the enterprise
  • Experience with software delivery, DevOps, Gitops, Gitlab, and GitHub
  • Great communicator with at least 3 years of Enterprise level product management background
  • Ability to generate Go To Market type marketing materials and messaging
  • Ability to generate Features and Stories for the team
  • Ability to help keep work organized and the team focused during many iterations of ambiguity
  • Ability to generate roadmaps from complex dependency patterns
