Job Description

We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa as our new Engineering Manager.  Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance operations across the property. This hands-on leadership role works closely with the Engineering team, vendors, and hotel departments to ensure projects, preventative maintenance, and operational priorities are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Engineering in the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department, helping to ensure the efficient completion of preventative maintenance, repairs, projects, and life safety initiatives throughout the property
  • Coordinate daily work assignments, scheduling, and priorities for the Engineering team to support operational needs and departmental objectives
  • Assist in the coaching, training, and development of Engineering colleagues through ongoing feedback and support
  • Support departmental budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, inventory management, and expense monitoring, identifying potential variances and escalating concerns as appropriate
  • Coordinate vendor activities, including scheduling, project support, invoicing, and contract administration, to ensure timely completion of work
  • Facilitate preventative maintenance programs, work order management, property inspections, and project tracking to support the upkeep of the hotel and its facilities
  • Partner with hotel departments to coordinate maintenance requests, project timelines, and operational priorities
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company standards, including required inspections, life safety systems, and emergency preparedness programs
  • Utilize maintenance management systems and operational tools to monitor work progress, track productivity, and support departmental reporting
  • Support the Director of Engineering with capital projects, financial reporting, administrative functions, and other departmental initiatives as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of engineering, facilities, or property maintenance experience, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and building maintenance
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs, vendor management, and project coordination
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
