About the Role

As an HPC Field Support Engineer, you will work onsite in Kajaani, supporting our High‑Performance Computing customers. In this hands‑on role, you will install, configure, and maintain advanced HPC and AI systems that enable large‑scale research and industrial innovation. You will handle hardware interventions, first‑line system software troubleshooting, system monitoring, and contribute to the overall reliability and performance of the HPC environment. You’ll collaborate with local and European HPC engineering teams and gain exposure to the full lifecycle of supercomputing systems.

This role is ideal for technically curious candidates who want to grow their skills in Linux, hardware, networking, and HPC technologies while working directly with state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure.

What You Will Do:

  • Install, configure, and support high‑end HPC & AI systems at key customer sites
  • Perform hardware replacements, diagnostics, and Level 1 system software troubleshooting
  • Act as the technical interface between the customer and Eviden’s backline support organization
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and operational excellence
  • Participate in HPC deployments and upgrades across Europe (occasional travel)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the European HPC team
  • You will work with HPC environments used by government agencies, research institutions, universities, and enterprise customers.

What You Bring

Technical Skills:

  • Hands‑on experience assembling, maintaining, or repairing computer hardware
  • Good knowledge of Linux environments
  • Shell scripting capabilities (Bash or similar)
  • Understanding of networking concepts and network security
  • Technical curiosity and motivation to grow within HPC engineering

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem‑solving mindset and creative thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical users
  • Confidence interacting with technical stakeholders at different levels
