JOB INFORMATION:

Job Title:   Senior Business Analyst

Department(s): 5008 - Process Excellence Team

Location(s):   Garden City Terminal

FLSA Status:  Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the General Manager - Process Excellence, the Senior Business Analyst gathers and analyzes information for developing and modifying data processing projects. Managing assigned resources, the Analyst assists in the design of technological projects. Working closely with personnel in user areas to gather relevant information and to define project objectives, documents fact-finding and study results and makes formal presentations of findings, recommendations, and specifications in written and in oral formats.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Conducts in-depth analysis of business processes, identifying opportunities to eliminate bottlenecks and improve efficiency where applicable.
  • Advises on and supervises process improvements, applying change management strategies.
  • Leads interviews and manages data collection activities for initial project studies and design enhancements.
  • Oversees the design and development of new data processing systems and supports modifications to existing systems.
  • Develops business scenario specifications to define project requirements.
  • Coordinates the creation of test data to ensure the project meets business user needs.
  • Manages the testing process for newly developed and modified systems.
  • Guides user development teams and creates or updates process maps and user documentation when necessary.
  • Prepares and submits administrative reports as needed.
  • Assesses and evaluates new and emerging technologies for potential use in a marine terminal setting.
  • Prepares and manages budgets for third-party vendor support as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Must possess demonstrable skills in basic port business processes, vessel scheduling, and general port operations.Must possess demonstrable knowledge of Navis Terminal Management Systems, SAP, and Microsoft Office applications.The ability to deal effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels as well as customers and the general public required.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years experience in computer systems and systems planning Preferred
  • 5 to 10 years experience in marine port terminal operations Preferred
  • 1-3 years of analytical experience Required

Education

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science or related field

Licenses & Certifications

  • TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required Upon Hire
  • Driver's License - Valid state driver's license Required Upon Hire
