Job Description:

The Missile Solutions Segment of L3Harris is excited to announce an opening for an Associate Mechanical Engineering Manager- Tooling at our Advanced Manufacturing Facilities (AMF) in Huntsville, AL. These facilities are the forefront of innovation, specializing in the fabrication and assembly of cutting-edge composite rocket motor hardware.

The Associate Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for technical and administrative leadership of the Tool Engineering group within Operations. This manager provides tool engineering process direction and leadership to tool engineers supporting production and new product components.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides tool engineering and tool design process direction and leadership to the tooling organization to support production and development programs.
  • Develop and utilize processes that promote continuous improvement using lean manufacturing and other Operational Excellence tools.
  • Works closely with site management, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, process areas and product work centers to provide timely and qualified special tooling support for operation needs.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring for career development and advancement of team members.
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
  • Travel: 10%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience. A Graduate Degree, or equivalent, with minimum of 4 years prior mechanical engineering design experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience.
  • 1 year leadership experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Prior experience specific in design of tooling, ground support equipment, or special test equipment.
  • Tool Fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Existing clearance is a plus.
  • Experience working in the defense industry is a plus.
  • Experience in Creo, Windchill, NX is a plus.
