Looking for a Technical Solutions Engineer to support our Polymer Division.
This position can be based out of Carlsbad - CA, Irvine, CA or Rochester, NY
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Solutions Engineer will lead the proposal / estimating process, providing engineering insight into the conceptualization and documentation of detailed manufacturing plans to 3Dprint and assemble parts in support of programs that range from small run prototype jobs to high volume production jobs. Proposals estimates will cover various sectors to include aerospace, commercial launch, and defense.
The Technical Solutions Engineer ensures all quote activity supports customer satisfaction, operational feasibility, and revenue growth while maintaining pricing accuracy and responsiveness in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage, maintain, and continually improve current quality management system that is certified
- Analyze manufacturing requirements including materials, labor, machine time, and finishing requirements, tooling, and production processes needed to fulfill customer requests.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates using established pricing models, ERP systems, quoting software, and internal costing tools.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to validate manufacturability, cycle times, capacity, and technical feasibility.
- Work closely with the commercial and account management teams to ensure pricing aligns with customer expectations and business objectives.
- Generate formal customer quotations within required turnaround time expectations.
- Maintain quote records, revisions, pricing history, and supporting documentation within internal systems.
- Communicate directly with internal stakeholders regarding quote clarifications, production capabilities, lead times, and cost drivers.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to quoting accuracy, quote turnaround
- Time and process efficiency.
- Assist with customer order handoff by ensuring quote details accurately transfer into production planning and order entry systems.
- Monitor pricing consistency and escalate non-standard pricing requests when management review is required.
- Review of incoming customer Requests for Quote (RFQs), drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support commercial team initiatives focused on customer retention, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.

SKILL REQUIREMENT/EDUCATION:
- Proven experience as a Quoting specialist with engineering experience
- High attention to detail and perseverance in order to investigate full RFQ, part, specification and internal requirements and the appropriate source(s)
- Proficient in the use of CAD systems or viewers such as SolidWorks, CATIA and NX to interrogate CAD models and associated annotations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and customer service skills to build positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Bachelor's degree or + 7 years experience working in quoting / estimating in aerospace industry
- 5+ years of experience working in or with manufacturing teams
- Experience working in a corporate environment supporting multiple locations, Shared service experience is a plus
- Self-starter able to work with little supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.
- For the most part, ambient temperatures are controlled by climate due to production requirements
- This role regularly operates in a manufacturing environment with exposure to airborne powders and particulates. The ability to work in such conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation, is an essential function of the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift) on a manufacturing floor
- Frequent use of hands for handling, sanding, polishing, grinding, and finishing parts
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials weighing up to 25–50 pounds, with or without assistance
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to operate finishing tools and equipment
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to dust, fumes, noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures
- Ability to distinguish colors, finishes, and surface defects as needed for quality inspection
- Sufficient vision (with or without correction) to inspect detailed parts and surfaces
- Ability to safely operate finishing equipment such as grinders, sanders, bead blasters, or similar tools
