Senior Cloud Architect – CONTRACT – 6 months

About the Role
Millennium EMS Solutions Ltd. is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to lead the design, governance, security, optimization, and operational excellence of our cloud and hybrid technology environments. This role is responsible for ensuring MEMS’ cloud services are secure, resilient, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives while supporting modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
The Senior Cloud Architect will play a key role in shaping MEMS’ cloud strategy, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Working closely with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Applications, and Business teams, this position will establish technical standards, strengthen cloud governance, improve operational reliability, and support solutions that enhance agility, security, business continuity, service delivery, and cost efficiency.
This is a contract opportunity for an experienced cloud professional who enjoys combining hands-on technical expertise with strategic architecture, enterprise governance, automation, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain cloud architecture strategies aligned with MEMS’ organizational and technology roadmaps.
- Design scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performing cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure and hybrid infrastructure platforms.
- Establish cloud standards, reference architectures, and technical governance frameworks.
- Lead the deployment, administration, and ongoing management of cloud infrastructure services.
- Monitor cloud environments and proactively identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of cloud infrastructure incidents and service disruptions.
- Design and administer Microsoft Entra ID identity and access management, including authentication, authorization, privileged access, and identity governance controls.
- Implement and maintain Zero Trust security principles across cloud environments.
- Lead cloud security controls, vulnerability reviews, remediation planning, and security posture improvements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain cloud governance standards, policies, operating procedures, and documentation.
- Build and maintain automation frameworks using Infrastructure as Code and repeatable deployment methodologies.
- Support CI/CD initiatives, automation, standardization, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Provide advanced administration and support for Microsoft 365 services and related cloud collaboration platforms.
- Design, test, and maintain backup, disaster recovery, failover, and business continuity capabilities.
- Monitor cloud consumption, licensing utilization, operational spending, and vendor performance.
- Support cloud modernization, migration, and digital transformation initiatives.
What You Bring
The successful candidate will bring a strong blend of enterprise cloud architecture, infrastructure, security, governance, and collaboration skills. Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience.
- 6+ years of enterprise Azure administration or architecture experience.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
- Experience implementing enterprise cloud security controls.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 services.
- Experience with SAST, DAST, and penetration testing applications for Azure applications.
Technical Skills and Experience
We are looking for experience with several of the following:
- Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services
- Azure networking, compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery services
- Microsoft Entra ID, identity and access management, Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, RBAC, and PIM
- Microsoft Defender Suite, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Purview
- Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Intune
- Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, Bicep, and ARM templates
- PowerShell, Azure CLI, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
- Virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V
- Enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, firewalls, and load balancing
- Cloud governance, cost management, security monitoring, SIEM, vulnerability management, and Zero Trust architecture
- Storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

One or more of the following certifications would be considered an asset:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AZ-305
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AZ-104
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, AZ-500
- Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert, SC-100
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator, SC-300
- CISSP
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by the ability to maintain reliable, secure, well-governed, and cost-effective cloud services while enabling modernization and operational excellence across MEMS. Key outcomes include maintaining critical cloud service availability, resolving incidents within established service levels, strengthening cloud security and compliance, increasing the use of approved Infrastructure as Code methodologies, completing annual disaster recovery testing, maintaining cloud spend within approved budget parameters, and delivering cloud projects on time and within budget.
