Full description
Ready to shape the future of space and defense technology?
EIDEL is an engineering company specializing in electronics, software, and system design for space and defense applications. Our core expertise lies in remote sensing, remote control systems, and encryption. The markets we operate in are experiencing long‑term growth, and with a rapidly expanding project portfolio, EIDEL is strengthening its development teams.
We are now looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join us and help deliver robust, high‑quality solutions for demanding and mission‑critical systems.
About the Role
As a Embedded Software Developer at EIDEL, you will work in multidisciplinary project teams and take responsibility for both software architecture and hands‑on development. You will be involved early in projects and follow solutions through the entire lifecycle — from concept and design to integration and customer acceptance.
You will work closely with system engineers, hardware engineers, FPGA developers, and project managers, contributing to technically sound decisions across disciplines.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Define, maintain, and evolve software architecture for complex embedded and system‑level solutions
- Translate system and software requirements into robust, maintainable designs
- Implement software in compliance with architecture, coding standards, and safety/security requirements
- Participate in technical decision‑making across software, FPGA, hardware, and systems engineering
- Support integration, verification, and validation activities
- Act as a technical sparring partner for project managers and fellow engineers
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and coding standards
Required Background and Experience:
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical depth with a system‑level mindset.
You should have:
- BSc or MSc in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development
- Proven experience with software architecture and technical design
- Strong proficiency in C (other languages are a plus)
- Experience with embedded systems, real‑time systems, or low‑level software
- Good understanding of structured development processes (requirements‑based development, design, verification)
- Ability to work independently and take technical responsibility
- Proficiency in Norwegian and English
Experience with one or more of the following is an advantage:
- RTOS, embedded Linux, or bare‑metal systems
- Safety‑ or security‑critical software
- Long‑lifecycle or regulated projects (space, defence, industrial systems)
- Systems engineering or cross‑disciplinary development
Personal Qualities
We value engineers who:
- Enjoy solving complex technical problems
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non‑engineers
- Work in a structured, analytical, and quality‑focused way
- Take initiative while appreciating well‑engineered, sustainable solutions
- Thrive in close collaboration with colleagues across disciplines
Security Clearance
Applicants must hold Norwegian citizenship and be eligible for Norwegian security clearance (SECRET / NATO SECRET).
What We Offer
We believe EIDEL is a great place to work, offering our employees the trust, freedom, and responsibility needed to grow, be innovative, and make a real impact.
At EIDEL, you will work on exciting and technically challenging projects — often following them from idea to implementation. You may help bring devices and products into space, to the Moon, and potentially even Mars.
At EIDEL, you get:
- Technically challenging, high‑impact projects
- Long‑term projects with time to design solutions properly
- A high degree of freedom, trust, and responsibility
- A professional environment with highly skilled colleagues
- Competence development aligned with EIDEL’s goals
- Flexible working hours and arrangements
- Competitive salary and benefits
- Brand‑new offices in Lillestrøm within walking distance of the train station
If you enjoy solving complex problems and want to work in an environment with room for both creativity and professional development, we would love to hear from you.
