- Earn and Nurture Trust
Whether you're in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch, you'll be part of a team that invests in your growth and makes space for you to shine.
The Role
ClearPoint is mobilising a significant number of Senior Mobile Engineers, across both iOS and Android, for a brand new digital engineering team being formed by one of our clients. This is one of the larger mobile builds we've run recently, with multiple positions open on each platform and an initial 3-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension, working exclusively through ClearPoint.
We're looking at candidates based in Auckland or Wellington, with the client working in a hybrid setup of 3 days a week in the office. Given the pace this team is standing up at, we're moving quickly, so a short notice period is a real advantage.
If you're a mobile specialist who takes genuine pride in the craft of native development, and you've built real depth on your platform of choice (the kind of experience that comes from living in Swift or Kotlin day to day, not just touching it occasionally), we want to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Native Feature Development: Designing and shipping well-crafted features within your platform of specialisation, writing code that is readable, testable, and built to last.
- Reactive and State-Driven Architecture: Working with modern reactive patterns (Combine for iOS, ViewModel-driven architecture for Android) to build responsive, maintainable applications.
- Build and Dependency Management: Owning your build tooling, whether that means Swift Package Manager for iOS or Gradle configuration for Android, and keeping things running smoothly.
- Quality and Consistency: Using platform linting tools (SwiftLint, Ktlint, Android Lint) as part of your everyday workflow, not as an afterthought, to keep codebases clean and consistent.
- Agile Collaboration: Contributing actively in an Agile team environment, working alongside product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver iteratively and communicate clearly.
- Platform Craft: Bringing a genuine appreciation of platform conventions, Apple Human Interface Guidelines for iOS engineers, Material Design thinking for Android, to every screen and interaction you touch.
The experience we're looking for
iOS tech stack:
- Extensive, hands-on production experience building iOS applications with Swift and SwiftUI as your primary toolkit.
- Real-world use of Combine for reactive state management, not just awareness of it.
- Confident managing project dependencies and package configurations via Swift Package Manager.
- Used to enforcing and maintaining code style standards with SwiftLint as part of daily development.
- A genuine understanding of what makes an iOS experience feel right, guided by Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.
- Advantageous to have Objective-C experience, for navigating older codebases.
Android tech stack:
- Strong, production-proven experience building Android applications with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose at the core.
- A solid grounding in modern Android architecture patterns, particularly around ViewModel and lifecycle-aware components.
- Comfortable with Gradle build scripts and project configuration, including multi-module setups.
- Proactive about code quality and consistent style with Android Lint and Ktlint as a matter of professional habit.
- Advantageous to have Java experience, particularly when working across mixed codebases.
